    In coincide with the National Marine Resources Conservation Week (17–24 September) and the International Coastal Clean-up Day-2022 (17 September), Security Forces (West) launched several beach cleaning programmes covering Western and Southern provinces’ coastal areas, littered with discarded wrappers, polythene, plastic bottles, empty beer cans, empty liquor bottles, etc.

  • A GENEROUS ENDEAVOUR FOR NEEDY FAMILIES

    In parallel to ongoing island-wide National Dengue epidemic Prevention Campaigns, troops serving under the 61 Infantry Division of the Security Forces (West) are launching a Dengue Prevention programme from 21 to 23 September 2022 covering four MOH areas, including 15 GN Divisions in Rathnapura District.

    In response to a request made by the Mahanayaka Thero of Daladawatta Purana Maha Viharaya, Wadduwa, Security Forces Headquarters (West) contributed their assistance to conduct a workshop on ‘Leadership’ for school students on 12 September 2022 at Daladawatta Purana Maha Viharaya-Waddauwa.

    Responding to the need for immediate action, troops of the 8 Battalion Gamunu Watch under the 611 Infantry Brigade of the Security Forces (West) rushed recently to Handagiriya, Balangoda area and doused the bush fire that was fast spreading fast in the afternoon on 13 September 2022.

    A blood donation programme which is annually organized to mark Ven Homagama Seelawansha Thero’s birthday,has been voluntarily assisted donating blood by a considerable gathering of Army personnel serving in the Army Cantonment - Panagoda on 11 September 2022.

  • WEST TROOPS AID IN FIRE EXTINGUISHMENT IN SAPUGASKANDA

    A contingent of Army personnel, including one Officer and 20 Other Ranks serving in 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 141 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West), assisted the Colombo Fire Brigade and Gampaha Fire Brigade to extinguish a sudden fire that broke out in a hangers company called Mainetti Pvt. Ltd. at Sapugaskanda on 09 September 2022.

    According to the request made by the University of Ruhuna, a one-day workshop was conducted for students of Karapitiya medical faculty regarding vehicle maintenance and its basic operation on 6 September 2022 at 61 Infantry Division Headquarters premises in Boossa.
