  • “TROOPS OF 18 SLNG RESTORE THE TRANSPORTATION ALONG RAJAWAKA - KAPUGALA ROAD FOLLOWING RAINFALL.”

    As per the instructions by GOC 61 Infantry Division and close supervision of Commander 572 Infantry Brigade in response to the rainfall that affected the Balangoda area, 01 x 10 troops of the 18 SLNG promptly extended their assistance to clear a fallen tree that had obstructed the Rajawaka - Kapugala road at around 1800 on 17 November 2025. The troops swiftly engaged in removing debris and restoring the passage, enabling the reestablishment of normal vehicular movement along the route. Their timely action of the Sri Lanka Army enabled continuous smooth transportation along the road for the normal routine of the civilians in the area, and especially for the students who are appearing for the G: C: E Advanced Level Examination on these days by demonstrating the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to community welfare and disaster response efforts.

  • BEACH CLEANING UNDER A BEAUTIFUL WELIGAMA PROGRAMME

    01 x 14 tps of 3GW participated the Beach Cleaning programme was organized by the Weligama Municipal Council under the theme “A Beautiful Weligama” under supervision of” the Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. Alcram Illayas, on 15th November 2025 from Weligama beach to Kapparathota Bridge with government institutions/non-government institutions in the area, local residents and foreigners.

  • NEWLY APPOINTED GENARAL STAFF OFFICER 1 (OPS) - 57 INFANTRY DIVISION ASSUMED OFFICE

    Lt Col YR Wimalarathne RSP USP psc VIR , assumed duties as new GSO 1(Ops) of the 57 Infantry Divison on 17.11.2025 on an auspicious time. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 57 Infantry Divison extended their wishes to the newly appointed GSO 1(Ops) on the assumption of the duties in the new appointment.

  • SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (WEST) CONDUCTED DYNAMIC TRAINING OF TRAINERS PROGRAMME IN COLLABORATION WITH NATIONAL CADET CORPS

    A vibrant and insightful Training of Trainers Programme was conducted on 18th November 2025 for 16 officers and 49 other ranks under the guidance of the Commander SF (West). The one-day session, organized in collaboration with the National Cadet Corps, featured 11 expert lecturers who delivered dynamic and inspiring modules. The programme had designed to enrich leadership and instructional skills, making the event a highly successful and motivating learning experience.

  • ROSHAN MAHANAMA FOUNDATION AND ARMY TROOPS HAND OVER NEWLY BUILT HOUSE TO A NEEDY FAMILY IN NARAMMALA

    Under the concept of the Commander of the Army to uplift the living standards of underprivileged families, a fully equipped new house was constructed and ceremonially handed over to Ms M W S Priyanthi, a needy resident of Dematagahawela, Narammala, located within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the 9 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (9 SLNG). The project was successfully completed through the generous financial contribution of Mr A B Dean, coordinated by the Roshan Mahanama Foundation, and with the dedicated assistance of Sri Lanka Army troops.

  • TROOPS OF 573 INFANTRY BRIGADE ASSIST TO CONTAIN FIRE AT AMBALANGODA TOWN

    A sudden fire broke out at an electrical equipment shop located within a building owned by the Ambalangoda Pradeshiya Sabha was successfully brought under control on 09 November 2025 through the prompt response of 573 Infantry Brigade troops operating under the 61 Infantry Division and SFHQ (West).

  • DONATION TO NEXT-OF-KIN OF FALLEN WAR HEROES

    Demonstrating continued compassion and respect for the families of fallen war heroes, a philanthropist donated Rs. 600,000.00 to the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP, ctf-ndu psc IG, in order to present the next-of-kin of the soldiers with gallantry awards who made great sacrifices during the active service.

  • TOURISM AWARENESS WORKSHOP CONDUCTED BY 573 INFANTRY BRIGADE

    As per a concept of Commander of the Army, under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (West), 573 Infantry Brigade organized a Tourism Awareness Workshop on 29 October 2025 at Regimental Center SLLI Banquet hall Boossa.

  • INVOLVING TROOPS IN DISASTER ACTIVITIES.

    On the instructions of the 61 Infantry Division Headquarters, a Disaster Relief Team consisting of 01 x 10 personnel of 2 (V) Battalion the Gemunu Watch under the supervision of 573 Infantry Brigade was deployed on 23.10.2025 at 0630 hrs to remove a tree that had fallen on a house behind the railway track in Thalapitiya Grama Seva Division, under Kadawath Satara Divisional Secretariat in Galle, and to remove a tree that had fallen on a house in Hirimburagama Grama Seva Division under Divisional Secretariat, Bope Poddala.
