  • 144 INFANTRY BRIGADE TROOPS PARTICIPATION FOR A BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN

    In commemoration of the 33rd death anniversary of the late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa, and in remembrance of the Tri-Forces and Police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the nation, the 23rd annual blood donation campaign organized by the Angoda Hiru Kirana Social Welfare Foundation was held on 10th August 2025 at 0900 hrs at Kotikawatta Somadevi Balika Vidyalaya.With the approval of the Commander Security Forces (West), and the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division and the supervision of the Commander 144 Infantry Brigade a team of 10 soldiers from 2(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry participated for the blood donation Campaign.

  • “JOINT EFFORT BY ARMY AND AIR FORCE FOR CONTAINING BUSH FIRE IN HALPE, IMBULPE, BALANGODA”

    Under the directives of the General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division and the close supervision of the Commander 572 Infantry Brigade, 2 x 20 troops from the 18 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard swiftly responding to a on going bush fire that erupted in the Halpe, Imbulpe, Balangoda area at around from 0900 hrs to 1845 hrs on 08 August 2025. Demonstrating exceptional coordination and commitment, the troops engaged in firefighting operations to contain the spread and mitigate potential risks to the surrounding environment and communities. Complementing the ground operation, 01 x 08 Sri Lanka Air Force personnel are also taking part in the mission, deploying aerial support with a helicopter to douse the affected area from the air. The joint efforts of the Army and Air Force played a pivotal role in successfully bringing the situation under control, demonstrating the military assistance for the civil authorities in a disaster situation.

  • NEW COMMANDER 141 INFANTRY BRIGADE ASSUMES OFFICE

    The 14th Commander of the 141 Infantry Brigade, Brig H P D S Gunawardane RSP of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, assumed office on 01st August 2025, amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the Brigade Headquarters in Veyangoda.

  • PARTICIPATING FOR THE CLEANING PROGRAMME UNDER THE “CLEAN SRILANKA” PROGRAMME

    With the approval of the commander SEHQ (West), the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division and under the supervision of the Commander 144 Infantry Brigade successfully conducted cleaning programme either sides of the main road which is running Malabe SLIIT University to Chandrika Kumaratunga mawatha in relation to "CLEAN SRI LANKA” project. This event has been organized by the kaduwela Municipal Council and 01 x 20 troops from 2(V) Sn Lanka Light Infantry, 00 x 12 troops from Sn Lanka Navy and 00 x 10 troops From Sri Lanka Air Force and 00 s 10 members from the Civil Security Department participated for this event.

  • RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT THE USE OF INTERNET GAMBLING

    Under the supervision and guidance of Colonel HSWK Galhenage RWP RSP USP psc Commander of the 142 Infantry Brigade a lecture on “Raising Awareness About the use Of Internet Gambling” was Counducted for the 03 Officers and 90 Other ranks of the 142 Inf Bde and all under command bns at the 14th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment lecture Hall on 16th July 2025. The lecture was delivered by Maj MI Marikkar MIC of the Sri Lanka Army Mass Media and Pisychology Operations Directorate.

  • CONDUCTED A LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME TO THE 68 STUDENTS OF COMMERCE SECTION MR / SRI SUMANGALA BALIKA VIDYALAYA – WELIGAMA.

    Under the supervision of SFHQ (west), 61 infantry division and 613 infantry brigade. 02x 06 troops of 3rd Battalion the Gemunu watch conduct a leadership programme to 68 students of commerce section, Sri Sumangala Balika Vidyalaya – Weligama from 0830 to 1700hrs on 22.07.2025.

  • THE PAINTING PROGRAMME WARD NUMBER 14 AT GENERAL HOSPITAL MATARA

    A PAINTING PROGRAMME WAS CONDUCTED AT CHILDREN'S WARD NO. 14 OF THE MATARA GENERAL HOSPITAL, THE PROGRAMME WAS CARRIED OUT AND COMPLETED ON 18TH, 19TH, AND 20TH JULY 2025 WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF 01 X 09 TROOPS FROM THE 3RD BATTALION, THE GEMUNU WATCH, UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING, 61 INFANTRY DIVISION. THE PROJECT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER THE CLOSE SUPERVISION OF THE COMMANDER, 613 INFANTRY BRIGADE, AND THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 3 (V) GW.AND THE PHOTOS OF THE PROGRAMME SENT TO THE 613 INF BDE TO PUBLISH ON THE SRI LANKA ARMY FACEBOOK PAGE (SRI LANKA ARMY – DEFENDERS OF THE NATION) AND THE WEB SITE.

  • Providing Special contribution in line with the “Clean Sri Lanka” programme

    With the approval of the Commander Security Force (West), under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 14th Infantry Division, under the guidance GOC - 14 Infantry Division and Under Supervison of the Commander 144 Inf Brigade, in line with the “Clean Sri Lanka” project in accordance with the “Clean Step – Safe Space” concept Pruning of trees wich are threat to the student’s and the buildings at Sri Rajasinghe National College, Mulleriyawa.

  • SUPPORT FOR FIREFIGHTING EFFORTS

    21st July 2025 10:32:36 Hours

    On July 19, 2025, around 0255 hours, a fire broke out at a small plastic factory near the Wadakada Muslim Mosque in the Pothuhera Police Division, Kurunegala, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit. Following the instructions of the Commander Security forces (West), troops of the 9th Sri Lanka National Guard were promptly deployed to the scene. They joined efforts with the Kurunegala Municipal Council Fire Brigade to contain and extinguish the fire. The swift response and coordinated action successfully brought the situation under control and prevented further damage to surrounding areas.

    According to the concept of Major General WSV Fernando USP ndc IG the General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division and the guidance of Colonel WGIS Gamage USP the Commander 572 Infantry Brigade, under the direction of Commanding Officer 18 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard Major PRP Fernando SLNG, held a book donation program for the 80 school childrens of R/BL Handagiriya vidyalaya with the participation of 01x04 tps on 16th July 2025. Additionally, a tea party with snacks was provided for the children and teachers.
