A significant environmental initiative was undertaken on 13th December 2024 in the Kalpitiya, Amothattam area of the Puttalam District. Spearheaded by the Commander of the 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier K A D T P Wimalasena RWP RSP, and coordinated with the support of Linea Aqua Pvt. (Ltd), the program saw the successful planting of 10,000 mangrove saplings.

The event was jointly organized by troops of the 141 Infantry Brigade and officials from the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL).
