  • TROOPS OF 11 BATALION GEMUNU WATCH ASSIST FIREFIGHTING EFFORT AT PUBLIC MARKET COMPLEX, RATHNAPURA

    At around 0400 hrs on 23 April 2026, a major fire was reported at the Ratnapura Public Market Complex, located within Ratnapura Town. The fire had spread rapidly across the market premises, resulting complete destruction of approximately 120 commercial stalls. The incident has caused significant damage to property and disruption to local commercial activities.

Session was organized in coordination with the Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services of Army Headquarters to coincide with the scheduled divisional training day.

    Following intense rainfall and strong winds occurred on 21 April 2026, the Wariyapola town area suffered significant infrastructure damage. The sudden storm impacted approximately twenty residences and a school building within the Wariyapola Divisional Secretariat.
