A train traveling from Kandy to Colombo was derailed near Mawanella around 1650 hours on 19 October 2025 due to a landslide in the area. Responding promptly to the situation, three teams comprising 48 troops from the 8th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (8 SLSR), under the 611 Infantry Brigade of the 57 Infantry Division, were deployed from their camp at 1900 hours to provide assistance. The troops supported the authorities in clearing the track and ensuring the safety of passengers and railway staff affected by the incident. Their timely response and dedicated effort helped to stabilize the situation and restore normalcy in the area. After completing the assigned duties, the troops returned to their camp at 2130 hours on the same day. This operation once again reflects the Sri Lanka Army’s commitment to serving the nation in times of need.

Blood donation programme was held at the National Blood Transfusion Center, Narahenpita on 16.10.2025 from 0900 hours onwards. To commemorate the 56th birth anniversary of Venerable Daranagama Sumanaratne thero, Temple of the Adiyambalama Sri Veluwanaramaya. Under the guidance of the Commander of the SFHQ(West), and under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division and the Commander 144 Infantry Brigade, 00x05 troops from this Brigade participated in donating blood.

In conjunction with World Chidren’s Day 2025, A series of children’s programme organized by Kelni Shakthi Maternal Health Organization for the chidren of Ranahansa Children’s Society was held on 2025.10.04 at the 2 (V) SLLI Play groung. The event was further graced by the presence of Retired Major General SRB Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, former Chief of Staff and Colonel Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, together with his spouse. In addition, Major General KDML Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, and the Commander 571 Brigade Headquarters also participated in the programme. Additionally, the 9th Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard contributed immensely to the success of this pivotal event.
