    141 Infantry Brigade organized an insightful lecture on crimes against children and women on 19 June 2024 at the Infantry Brigade premises as part of their training day program. This event was held under the guidance of Col RR De S Dharmawickrama RSP, ensuring the highest level of expertise. Chief Inspector Tineeshiya Premarathne from the Gampaha Police Station conducted the lecture, which aimed to raise awareness about crimes and laws related to children and women, providing our audience with the most reliable and up-to-date information.

  • FOR POSON POYA DAY, TROOPS CLEAN THE HOMES OF THE ELDERLY

    By the directive of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, and under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding the 14 Infantry Division, the troops of the 14th Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, cleaned the elders' home at No. 55, Lesley Ranagala Mawatha, Borella, on July 17, 2024, in anticipation of Poson Poya Day. The elders have lived there since 1982.

  • FLOOD RELIEF ACTION BY 14 INFANTRY DIVISION

    Due to the bad weather conditions affecting the Security Forces West area of command these days, a civilian house in Egodagama, Puwakpitiya area of Colombo district was reported to have been destroyed by floods, according to the efforts of 2 x 20 troops from the 5 Field Engineer Regiment and 21 Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

  • 14 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS PROVIDE TRANSPORT FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

    Due to the heavy rainfall in recent days caused by adverse weather conditions, the Katunayake, Awariwatta area in the Gampaha district has experienced flooding. Reportedly, 313 civilians en route to their workplaces were provided transportation facilities on 5 June 2024. This assistance was facilitated by the 141 Infantry Brigade, which operates under the 14 Infantry Division, along with support from the 1 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and 2 (V) Sri Lanka Army Service Corps. Specifically, 4 x 12 troops with two armored vehicles and Boats were deployed.

  • 61 INFANTRY DIVISION MARKS 16TH ANNIVERSARY

    On 30 May 2024, the 61 Infantry Division celebrated its 16th anniversary amidst military formalities under the guidance of Major General KHMS Wikramaratne RSP, the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division. The anniversary celebrations had commenced with a friendly cricket tournament on 27 May 2024, where Officers, Other Ranks, and civil staff of the 61 Infantry Division participated. Additionally, on 29 May 2024, the Elders of the ‘Wijerathna Elders’ Home in Rathgama were treated to a delicious lunch.

  • COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS TO PROVIDE ESSENTIAL FOOD RELIEF

    The Security Forces West has planned a programme to provide packeted foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to civilians living in this area of command who have suffered from disasters due to the bad weather conditions affecting the island. The distribution, scheduled for 4, 5 and 6 June 2024, involves 51,000 food parcels daily. These parcels were cooked and distributed on 4 June 2024, with the contribution of the Engineer Service Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment, Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, Sri Lanka Engineer, and 2(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry regiments. Additionally, arrangements have been made to hand over the same amount of packeted foods to the Kolonnawa Region Secretariat till 6 June 2024. For this purpose, the labor contribution of the affiliated battalions and the Regiments, as mentioned earlier, was provided.

  • THE 61 INFANTRY DIVISION, THROUGH THEIR IMPECCABLE COLLABORATION, ENSURED THE SAFE TRANSFER OF VACCINES

    Under the supervision of the Brigade Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade, a rescue mission was conducted at the Athuraliya Medical Officer of Health office on 4 June 2014. A stock of immunization vaccines (PENTA/OPV/JE/MMR/DP/DPT) worth 4.5 million rupees, intended for children aged 1 to 3 years, was securely stored in the office of the Medical Officer of Health on Amalagoda Road, Athuraliya, amidst concerns of flooding from the overflowing Nilwala River. Medical Officer of Health Office staff were safely evacuated with the WMZ 551B armored vehicle assistance from the 4th Mechanized Infantry Regiment stationed at the 613 Infantry Brigade. Subsequently, the vaccine stock and accompanying staff were safely transported from Athuraliya to the Akuressa Medical Officer of Health office. Two officers and eight other rankers participated in this mission, including the Commanding Officer of the 3(V) Gemunu Watch.

  • BOAT RESCUE MISSION AT MATARA DISTRICT

    By the instructions of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, a boat rescue mission was conducted in the Matara District on 3 June 2024. Due to adverse weather conditions, the Kadduwa, Wellathota, and Dolegoda Regional Secretariat Divisions were severely affected by flooding. Therefore, two boats were allocated for this rescue mission under the command of the 61 Infantry Division to assist the flood victims. The main aims of this mission were to transport the victims and provide food assistance to them.

  • MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO FLOOD RECOVERY IN COLOMBO AND PUTTALAM DISTRICTS

    On 3 June 2024, the Ollukkuliya Reservoir in the Navaghattagama Regional Secretariat Division of the Puttalam district was breached due to heavy rains and adverse weather conditions. Under the supervision of the Brigade Commander of the 143 Infantry Brigade, 70 troops used sandbags to repair the breached embankment.
