  • GOC 61 INFANTRY DIVISION VISITS 573 INFANTRY BRIGADE AND ITS UNDER COMMAND BATTALIONS

    The General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, Major General W S V Fernando USP ndc IG, undertook an official visit to the Headquarters 573 Infantry Brigade and its under command Battalions on 14 July 2025.

  • TROOPS OF 3 (v) GW RESCUE ELDERLY MAN ATTEMPTING SUICIDE FROM NILWALA RIVER

    On 10.07.2025 at around 1415 hrs, a 94 year old person named A.W Gunasekara, residing at No 45/1, Rahula rd, Matara jumped from the Mahanama Bridge into the Nilwala River in Matara with the intention of suicide and was swept away by the current. After that under mention Offr/Sldrs (01 x 03) troops of the 3 (v) Gemunu Watch immediately responded with the help of a boat and rescued the person without allowing him to be swept away and admitted to general hospital Matara by using army vehicle.

  • PROVIDING SPECIAL CONTRIBUTION TO SAVE THE LIFE OF 'BHATHIYA' TUSKER

    A famous tusker named “Bhathiya,” who used to roam near the forest area in Maho, Ambanpola, and Nikaweratiya regions.This tusker was found fallen down near polpithigama tank and wild life conservation officers have stated that this tusker has collapsed and weaken due to serious injuries in its leg. Since 5th July 2025, the Maho and Nikaweratiya Wildlife Officers, along with Nikaweratiya Wildlife Veterinary Team, have given assistance for treatments and feed to preserve the life of tusker. The 57 Infantry Division, The 571 Infantry Brigade, The 15th Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment, and the 9th Sri Lanka National Guard Officers & Soldiers have assist for the operation with the requisition of wild life conservation.

  • NEWLY APPOINTED CIVIL AFFAIRS OFFICER - 57 INFANTRY DIVISION ASSUMED OFFICE

    Lt Col WMJK Karunarathna RSP ISC, assumed duties as new CAO of the 57 Infantry Divison on 07.07.2025 on an auspicious time. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 57 Infantry Divison extended their wishes to the newly appointed CAO on the assumption of the duties in the new appointment.

  • "Sharma Shakthyum" Clean Up Campaign Conducted in 144 Inf Bde

    In line with the “Clean Sri Lanka” concept, a comprehensive clean-up program titled “Sharma Shakthyum” was successfully conducted within the 144 Inf Bde area on 04th July 2025.

  • 141 Inf Bde troops Support Dengue Prevention Efforts in Attanagalla and Dompe Area

    Troops of the 6th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery and 8th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, under command to the 141 Infantry Brigade, actively participated in a comprehensive dengue prevention programme conducted in collaboration with the respective MOH office in Attanagalla and Dompe areas on 03, 04 & 05 July 2025, contributing significantly to the national campaign against dengue.

  • SECURITY FORCE WEST LAUNCHES CLEANING CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF "CLEAN SRI LANKA" PROGRAMME

The initiative was carried out under the guidance and supervision of the Commander of Security Force West, with the active participation of troops from various military establishments within the area of responsibility.
