  • WEST TROOPS PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES TO FLOOD-AFFECTED PEOPLE

    Kamburupitiya - Mulatiyana road in Matara District under 613 Infantry Brigade, belongs to Security Forces (West) AOR were flooded and submerged under 2 2/1 feet of water on 02 August 2022 due to heavy rainfall. Therefore, it led not only the patients and their relatives also the hospital staff into great inconvenience once they are going to Handapana General Hospital – Kamburupitiya.

  • WEST TROOPS ACQUIRE MORE KNOWLEDGE ON SELF-DEFENCE TECHNIQUES

    Over the worsening economic crisis, the tense situation has been developed within Sri Lanka. Simultaneously, the Army personnel also have to engage with civilians and Sri Lanka police once they required. Consequently, as soldiers, they must know the use of force to solve problems, the proper use of minimum force, practical and theoretical knowledge of the application of human rights and the law of war, performing their duties. Especially the troops belongs to 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) have faced more sensitive problems while solving those problems, they have to perform their duties as a soldier unarmed or armed soldiers to protecting themselves. Being a soldier, it is extremely important to know unique fighting techniques such as self defence in armed and unarmed with Defence Batten techniques.

  • SOUTHERN NAVAL COMMANDER PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO 61 INFANTRY DIVISION HEADQUARTERS

    Rear Admiral T E M H S N Ekanayake after assuming duties as the new Commander of the Southern Naval area, paid a courtesy visit to 61 Infantry Division Headquarters on 28 July 2022. Thereby, he had a cordial discussion with the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General W R M N Rathnayaka RWP RSP USP ndu.

    As per the instructions of the Commander Security Forces West, Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, organized a workshop on Mess accounts for Other Ranks who are serving in the Security Forces Headquarters (West) from 25 July 2022 onward at Regimental Headquarters of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Engineers lecture hall – Army cantonment Panagoda.

  • ARMY PERSONNEL HELPED TO BE A SOURCE OF ENCOURAGEMENT FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN COLOMBO AREA

    With the coordination of Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation (Sri Lanka) and the Tan Ngak Buay & Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore), 144 Infantry Brigade under Security Forces (West) organized a charity programmer of donating 1500 packs of dry ration to low-income families living in Kaduwela, Kolonnawa, Kotte areas. Similarly, 3rd stage of said programmer has been conducted at Wevekaramaya Temple - Pegeriwaththa on 22 July 2022 for the needy families who are living in Gangodavila Grama Niladari Division.

  • ARMY TROOPS PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO DISTRIBUTE DRY RATIONS AMONG THE NEEDY

    As per the direction of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General W R M N Rathnayaka RWP RSP USP ndu and Commander 613 Infantry Brigade, as well as the close supervision of the Commanding Officer of 14 (V) Battalion of Gamunu Watch, another noble project coordinated in line with continuous sponsorship lent by Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation (Sri Lanka) and the Tan Ngak Buay & Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore), to give away one more consignment of 150 packs of dry ration to poverty-stricken families living in Divisional Secretariat of Habaraduwa on 07 July 2022 at Dharmika Maha Vidyalaya, Katukurunda, Habaraduwa.

    While 3 (V) Battalion Gamunu Watch troops were on duty near the main gate of their Headquarters in Matara, a stranded foreigner has been generously helped to move his vehicle to the nearest fuel station after his vehicle suddenly stopped near the main gate due to lack of fuel on 07 July 2022.

  • ARMY ASSISTANCE FOR ANOTHER NOBLE TASK

    A stranded family including mother and her disabled son, who have been temporarily staying at Nittambuwa public ground pavilion for a week has been helped by proving a vehicle with fuel to send them back to their mother’s house located in Poddala - Galle in the evening hours on 6 July 2022 by Mr. Nihal, the owner of Nihal fashion (Pvt) Ltd and the president of the Nittabuwa trade union. In this tense situation, fuel for this noble task has been arranged in line with the filling station – IOC, Nittambuwa by the Commanding Officer of 6 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery of Security Forces (West).
