    In today’s context, knowledge of information and communication technologies has become a vital and significant requirement in the entire Sri Lanka. Specially military cyber security must be prioritized in order to avoid any significant harm in protecting the troops and entire citizens of the country. Accordingly, on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu Security Forces Headquarters (West) organized a valuable lecture and a discussion on "Cyber Security-Phishing Attacks" at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) conference hall on 28 January 2022 adhering to the COVID 19 health guidelines.

  • COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) MADE A FORMAL VISIT AT THE ARMY CANTONMENT PANAGODA

    An unannounced casual visit of General L H S C SILVA WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, and Head of the Green Agriculture Operation Center (GAOC) to the Panagoda Army Cantonment on 14 January 2022 and the Army chief observed several lapses regarding kitchen premises and dining of the Other Ranks during the visit. Accordingly, Commander Security Forces (West), Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu paid a visit at the army cantonment Panagoda on Tuesday (25) in order to reconcile those observations.

    Core Values form the foundation for the Sri Lanka Army, guiding its functions and ethos. These values, essentially have been derived from the code of national values. Sri Lanka’s vibrant and ancient civilisation is well-enriched with a set of deep-rooted value code. Core Values of the Sri Lanka Army inherits the insightful, serene, patriotic, and warrior-like dogma of the nation’s value system. Accordingly, at the Infantry Council meeting Colonel of the Regiment of all the Infantry Regiments has been instructed by the Commander of the Army to display the Infantry logo and the "Sri Lanka Army Core Values" at the main entrances of Security Forces Headquarters, Infantry Headquarters, Infantry Regiment Centres, Infantry Battalions, Infantry Training Schools, and Battalion Training Schools.

    Troops of 14 (v) Gemunu Watch of the 613 Infantry Brigade under command to the 61 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) cleaned the surrounding of the Lighthouse coastal belt area and walking lanes at Galle Fort, on 18 January 2022.

  • REVIVAL OF KURAGALA MARKED BY ARMY CHIEF WITH ENSHRINEMENT OF OFFERINGS

    The archaeologically-unique Balangoda Pooragala Raja Maha Vihara, more popularly known as Kuragala Cave Temple, which remained dilapidated, neglected and encroached by various elements with vested interests for a long time in Kaltota, Balangoda, rekindling its past glory and historical legacy, thanks to the dedicated incumbency of Ven Waturakumbure Dhammaratana Thera, Incumbent for both Kuragala Temple and Nelligala International Buddhist Centre and tireless and committed contribution, being made by devout Buddhists, Army troops and Civil Defence Service personnel, turned a new lease of life this evening (16) with enshrinement of offerings, treasures, images and artifacts after restoration of its ancient Pagoda (Esi Disi Maha Seya) and the premises to its pristine glory during a colour-rich ceremony.

  • TROOPS OF 141 INFANTRY BRIGADE HELPED NOTHER NEEDY STUDENTS AT KATANA

    With the coordination of the civil affairs officer of 141 Infantry Brigade another community project was launched in order to strengthen the civil military cooperation in line with the "Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025". The project was funded by a monetary donation received by the "Sewanak Wemu" Foundation (NGO) to distribute educational accessories for 45 needy students who are studying at Pope Paul the 6th National School in Halpe, Katana on 10 January 2022.

  • SECURITY FORCES (WEST) SUPPORTS DENGUE PREVENTION DRIVE

    The Troops of Security Forces (West) joined hands with the Public Health Inspectors (PHI) and government officials to conduct a four-day Dengue prevention programme covering 8 districts (Gampha, Colombo, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara and Matara) and 105 MOH Offices from 4 January to 8 January 2022. It has been organized in parallel with the ongoing island-wide Dengue prevention campaign.

    Responding to a request of the Youth Organization at Sri Sudarshanarama Purana Viharaya at Rajagiriya, Army personnel of 12 Gajaba Regiment and 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment serving under the 144 Brigade on Saturday (8) volunteered to give blood to the Central Blood Bank at Narahenpita..

  • WITH THE COOPERATION OF THE SECURITY FORCES (WEST), 'SIRASA NIWASA' BUILDS ANOTHER HOUSE FOR LAW INCOME FAMILY

    Troops of the 14 Battalion Gamunu Watch under the close supervision of 613 Infantry Brigade and the guidance of the 61 Infantry Division under the Security Forces (West) constructed a new home for a needy family in Wathawana, Imadoowa in collaboration with the MTV/MBC, ‘Sirasa’ Media network through its ‘Sirasa Niwasa’ project on the directions given by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army after the project sponsors sought the Army assistance in this regard.

  • PRESENTING OF A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE FOR AN UNDERPRIVILEGED FAMILY IN MULLERIYAWA NORTH GN DIVISION

    Troops of the 12 Gajaba Regiment, 2(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry and under close supervision of Commander 144 Infantry Brigade Colonel K M V Kodituwakku and guidance of 14 Infantry Division under the Security Forces (West) constructed a new house for a underprivileged family for, Mr Welgamage Sudarshana Prabath who is having four children in Mulleriyawa North GN division on 28th December 2021 and collaborated financial patronage of Buddhist society of people’s bank, Dr Madawa Thenuwara and Sponsor donors. This massive task was launched on the conception of General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
