  • WEST TROOPS EXTINGUISHED FIRE IN PAHALA KADUGANNAWA

    As directed by the Commander, Security Forces (West), Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, under close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division and the troops of 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under command to 611 Infantry Brigade rushed to mitigate a fast-spreading wildfire in the general area Pahala Kadugannawa on Wednesday afternoon, 23 February 2022.

    Strengthening the government’s effort in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, with the directions of General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, another special mobile vaccination drive was commenced on 1 February 2022 onwards under the close supervision of Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West).

    Another community programme was coordinated by the 61 Infantry Division to distribute stock of medical accessories and equipment to the Arachchikanda general hospital, Baddegama general hospital, Balapitiya general hospital, and Karapitiya general hospital on 14 February 2022.

  • ANOTHER CHARITABLE WORK FROM ARMY PERSONNEL OF 144 INFANTRY BRIGADE

    Responding to a request of the Sirilak Group of companies, Army personnel of 144 Infantry Brigade on 16 February 2022 volunteered to give blood to the Central Blood Bank at Narahenpita.

  • 14 INFANTRY DIVISION LAUNCHED A COMMUNITY PROJECT

    Another community project was launched on 15 February 2022 by the 14 Infantry Division with the objective of expanding civil-military cooperation in accordance with the "Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025". The project was sponsored by the Sri Lanka Forum of the United States of America to distribute stock of medical accessories to the Apeksha Hospital Maharagama.

  • TROOPS OF 141 INFANTRY BRIGADE COORDINATED ANOTHER COMMUNITY PROJECT

    With the coordination of 141 Infantry Brigade, another community project was launched with the intention of strengthening civil-military cooperation in line with the "Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025". The project was funded by the Sri Lanka Forum of the United States of America to distribute stock of medical accessories to the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital on 14 February 22.

  • WEST TROOPS EXTINGUISH BUSH-FIRE AT DANAWKANDA FOREST

    8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops under command to the 141 Infantry Brigade of the 14 Infantry Division under the Security Forces Headquarters (West) took prompt action to extinguish a bush fire that erupted inside the Danawkanda Forest in the Keragala area due to dry weather on Tuesday afternoon (8).

    On Friday afternoon, 04 February 2022, troops of the 8 Battalion Gamunu Watch under command to the 611 Infantry Brigade rushed to mitigate a fast-spreading wildfire in the general area Galaudakanda , Paragala, Ayagama forest reservation, as directed by the Commander, Security Forces (West), Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, with the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division.
