An extension to the Army Chief's conceptual notion for the welfare and the wellbeing of both soldiers and civilian personnel, the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) initiated a dry ration pack distribution project at on 04th September 2023, headed by the president of Army Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Janaki Liyanage.
The distribution event was held at the Gymnasium in Panagoda to alleviate the economic hardship faced by the soldiers and civilian personnel. This initiative was organized jointly by the Security Forces Headquarters (West) and the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU).
A total of 100 dry ration packs, containing essential dry rations, were distributed among 100 selected beneficiaries who are working at the Security Forces (West). The distribution project was carried out by the troops of the Security Force Headquarters - West in collaboration with the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, under the supervision of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc.
Several dignitaries and military personnel were present at the event, including Mrs. Janaki Liyanage President of ASVU, Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekara the President of Seva Vanitha Branch SLACAL, Mrs. Omila Jayawardhana the President of Seva Vanitha Branch SLSR, Mrs. Shyamali Wijesekera the President of Seva Vanitha Branch SLAWC, Commander Security Forces (West) Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division Brigadier K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP, Brigadier Coordinator of ASVU Brigadier N. Mahavithana, Brigadier General Staff Brigadier K.T.P. de Silva RSP psc, Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier A.M.R. Abeysinghe, senior officers, officers, and other ranks Of SFHQ (West).
This initiative demonstrates the commitment and the dedication of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit towards the betterment of the personnel who are working in the Sri Lanka Army.
