143 INFANTRY BRIGADE ORGANIZED A SPECIAL PROGRAMME IN HONOUR OF WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY AT THEVANUWARA MAILANKULAM SCHOOL IN PUTTALAM

With the approval and guidance of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (West) and the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division, The Children’s Day programme was organized for the children of Thevanuvara Mailankulam rural School in Puttalam district under the supervision and participation of the Commander 143 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer 16th Battalion Gajaba Regiment to celebrate the World Children’s Day on 02 October 2023.

The programme was organized and conducted with the participation of the Principal and the Staff of the school and the troops of the 16th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment. The event enlightened with entertainment games and calypso music, Singing and dancing performances by the teachers became the highlights of the event. Thereby, 307 children were given tea with a snack from the generous assistance of the 16th battalion the Gajaba Regiment.

The Children's Day celebration was assisted by the Social Carers of the Puttalam District, including Mr. YM Rizvi, Mr. FM Naushad, and Mr. Nazmy Abdeen. They donated Rs. 50,000.00 worth of 400 exercise books, ensuring that all the children had access to educational materials. Furthermore, the 16th Battalion Gajaba Regiment contributed to the betterment of the children's knowledge by donating 60 reading books to the school library.
