Troops of the 61 Infantry Division are currently engaged in humanitarian relief assistance for those who have been affected by heavy rains in Matara, Akuragoda, Polwathugoda and Aththudawa divisional secretariat areas belong to the Matara district.
Accordingly, 613 Infantry Brigade troops provided transport assistance to those who affected by ravaging flood waters and visited their doorsteps on 24 October 2023 and the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General RAJN Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc directed to continue these humanitarian efforts in affected areas until normalcy returns.
