  • ADDRESSING THE SHORTAGE OF CENTRAL BLOOD BANK WEST TROOPS DONATED BLOOD

    Responding to a request made by the Red Cross Society of Royal College – Colombo , a considerable gathering of Army personnel serving in Security Forces (West) AOR voluntarily donate blood to the Central Blood Bank at Narahenpita on 26 August 2022.

  • WEST COMMANDER UNDERTAKES ANOTHER FIELD VISIT

    The Commander Security Forces (West) paid a field visit to witness the locations that had been identified for the proposed deployment of the Security Forces (West) AOR in Katunayake, Kimbulapitiya, Minuwangoda, Diyulapitiye, Veyanoda and Nittambuwa areas on 23 August 2022.

    Together with the troops of 144 Infantry Brigade and 2 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 14 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) coordinated another humanitarian event of providing King Coconut water (Thambili) for the cancer patients who are under treatment at Apeksha Hospital on 22 August 2022.

    Due to the rapid transmission of dengue fever in the Western Province, several dengue prevention programmes have been conducted in order to prevent the spread of dengue mosquitoes in the Western Province.

    The 58th Esala Maha Perahera of the Sapugoda Ilamgamgoda Purana Rajamaha Viharaya - Kamburupitiya is scheduled to be held until 17 August 2022 at 613 Infantry Brigade AOR under 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West).

  • ANOTHER COMMUNITY WORK FROM WEST TROOPS

    The historical Esala festival of Devinuwara Upulwan Dewalaya was commenced from 05 August 2022 and it will be held until 20 August 2022. Subsequently,as per the request made by the Basnayake Nilame of the Devinuwara Upulawan Dewalaya a shramadana campaign was organized by 613 Infantry Brigade in order to repair the wahalkada of Upulawan Dewalaya as it has been discolored and the roof was in a dilapidated condition.

  • ARMY TROOPS ACTIVELY SUPPORTED TO EXTINGUISH FIRE IN EMBILIPITIYA

    Army personnel of Vocational Trade School, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps – Kuttigala located in 611 Infantry Brigade AOR of Security Forces (West), Thursday evening (11) rushed to prevent a fast-spreading fire irrupted in approximately 20 small shops near Embilipitiya main bus stand due to electrical leakage.

  • SF (WEST) TROOPS ASSIST TO DOUSE ANOTHER SPREADING BUSH FIRE

    On 07 August 2022, responding to the need of immediate action, troops of 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment under 143 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) rushed to Sirambiadiya in Puttalam area, and assisted in dousing a bush fire which was occurred at a private land.

    In line with continuous sponsorship rendered by Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation (Sri Lanka) and the Tan Ngak Buay & Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore) together with troops of 144 Infantry Brigade and 2 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry of 14 Infantry Division under Security Forces (West) coordinated another humanitarian event of providing 500 packs of dry ration among low-income families who are currently residing at Mulleriyawa South, Dodangahahena, Madinnagoda and Elhena GS Divisions.
