    Responding to the need for immediate action, troops of the 8 Battalion Gamunu Watch under the 611 Infantry Brigade of the Security Forces (West) rushed recently to Handagiriya, Balangoda area and doused the bush fire that was fast spreading fast in the afternoon on 13 September 2022.

  • WEST TROOPS AID IN FIRE EXTINGUISHMENT IN SAPUGASKANDA

    A contingent of Army personnel, including one Officer and 20 Other Ranks serving in 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 141 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West), assisted the Colombo Fire Brigade and Gampaha Fire Brigade to extinguish a sudden fire that broke out in a hangers company called Mainetti Pvt. Ltd. at Sapugaskanda on 09 September 2022.

    The annual Esala Perahera of historic " Gatabaruwa Rajamaha Viharaya – kotapola in Matara district has been scheduled to be held from 06 to 11 September 2022 at 613 Infantry Brigade AOR under 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West).

  • WEST TROOPS PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCED TO SCHOOL CHILDREN AT MALWANA – GAMPAHA

    Malwana-Bandarawatta road in Gampaha District, under 141 Infantry Brigade, which belongs to Security Forces (West) AOR, was flooded and submerged under 3 feet of water on 07 September 2022 due to heavy rainfall. Therefore, students who are studying at Al Mubarak School in Malwana have found it difficult to go to school as well as the people living in that area have found it difficult to carry out their day-to-day activities.

  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST TO MITIGATE THE OVERFLOW OF IHALA BOMIRIYA ANICUT

    As per the direction given by the Directorate of Operations, troops serving in both 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions of the Security Forces (West) launched a Dengue Prevention programme in parallel to the ongoing island-wide National Dengue epidemic Prevention Campaign during 1 -3 September 2022 covering Colombo, Gampaha, Kegalle, Kaluthara, Galle Districts after many cases were reported.
