1 Sri Lanka National Guard troops of 143 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) recently organized a three-day workshop on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, under the instruction of the Army Headquarters. This workshop, which was held on 16, 17, and 18 May 2023 at the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard camp premises, aimed to educate the officers and other ranks on various concepts of human rights and international humanitarian law.

The 09th Agricultural Knowledge Improvement and Leadership Development Workshop, themed "Haritha Niyamuwo," was a unique initiative taken by the Wayamba Training Institute in collaboration with the Army personnel of 1 Sri Lanka National Guard and 1 Sri Lanka Army Women Corps. The workshop was held on 10 June 2023, at the Wayamba Training Institute premises in Wariyapola, the workshop aimed to impart knowledge to 70 children residing at "Meegahakotuwa Remand home" located in Kurunegala District.

Mechanized Infantry Regiment troops gathered in a formal ceremony on 09 June 2023, to bid farewell to their Colonel of the Regiment, Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, the Commander Security Forces (West). The ceremony was held at the Mechanized Infantry Regiment Headquarters premises in Dambulla and was in accordance with military traditions.

On the auspicious occasion of Poson Festival 2023, the 611 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops organized a one-day psychological medical care awareness project for Officers and Other Ranks as well as their immediate family members. The project was held on 4 June 2023, at the 611 Infantry Brigade premises and was conducted by Dr. Jinanjala Shanika Wijegunasekara with the invitation of the Commander 611 Infantry Brigade.

Troops of 14 (v) Gemunu Watch recently joined in a Shramadana campaign aimed at combating the dengue epidemic in the Galle area. This initiative brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including port employees, boat owners, fishery inspectors, Public Health Inspectors, police personnel, and coast guard forces. This joint effort was held on 05 June 2023, at the Galle Harbor premises and was organized in conjunction with the ongoing dengue epidemic prevention programme in Galle district.

The Poson Festival is a significant event in Sri Lanka, celebrated by Buddhists all over the country. It is the time when people reflect on the teachings of Lord Buddha and engage in charitable and religious activities to accrue merit. In parallel to the Poson Festival 2023, 61 and 14 Infantry Divisions under the Security Forces (West) contributed to the celebrations by conducting several charitable and religious programmes in their area of responsibility as per the directions of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP.
