Army personnel From 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 144 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) contributed their manpower to conduct a ‘Kiri Amma Danaya’ at Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya for around 1000 mothers on 08 July 2023.

The troops of 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, under the 611 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West), recently conducted a specially designed leadership training programme for the 50 students including prefects of Udamakadawara Kanishta Vidyalaya in Kegalle. The programme, which took place on 01 July 2023, was organized at the request of the school authority.

Due to the recent heavy rains and strong winds in the Dagonna, Kadawala, Halgahawelawatta, Katuwellegama, Bobugammana and Palugahawela under Divulapitiya Divisional Secretariat area on 05 July 2023, a series of damage has been caused to 73 houses, two temples and the collapse of trees on the roofs of School buildings and many roads in the area. However, the Army troops, along with various government agencies, including the Disaster Management centre, have been working effortlessly since 06 July 2023 to provide relief and restore normalcy to the affected areas.

On 03 July 2023, one officer and 20 Other Ranks of 7 Battalion Gemunu Watch serving under the 142 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces Headquarters (West), joined hands with the Sri Lanka Coastal Guard and the Police environmental protection division to clear the beache of Crow Island.

The Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP took over the duties as the 16th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps on 08 June 2023. As part of his new role, he visited the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Headquarters located at the Army cantonment, Panagoda during 14, 21, June and 04 July 2023.

The collective effort of Army personnel from 613 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and 2 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch, under Security Forces (West), recently organized another humanitarian project to provide a delicious lunch for 56 children with special needs residing at Sambodhi Home in Galle. This initiative, which took place on 30 June 2023, aimed to bring joy and happiness to these children.
