As a result of prevailing adverse weather condition in the Security Forces (West) Area of Responsibility, the public has been in distress due to the contamination of the well water in the Baragama (East) and Baragama (West) Grama Niladari Divisions under the Mulatiyana Divisional Secretariat of Matara district. The polluted water has been caused a great deal of concern among the residents, as it poses serious health risks. In response to this situation, the Commander Security Forces (West) has taken immediate action addressing the problem requested by the residents of the area.

On the morning of May 16, 2023, a 3-year-old child was in need of immediate medical attention due to a high fever and epilepsy. Isolated in her home due to a flood situation located at Wallethota with her parents, the child was in dire need of assistance. At that time that the District Secretary of Matara made an urgent request to 12 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops deployed within 613 Infantry Brigade Area of Responsibility of 61 Infantry Division under Security Forces (West) to intervene and save the child's life.

Due to adverse weather condition prevailing in the island, 613 Infantry Brigade area of 61 Infantry Division has caused widespread damage and left many people affected. The situation demanded immediate action, and the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division passed down necessary guidelines to 613 Brigade Commander to conduct Disaster relief missions for those who were affected by several disaster situations as per the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West).

On 10 May 2023, the participation of Security Forces (West) Army Personnel in the workshop on "Positive thinking, working with a free mind and spending a good family life" and "Psychological aspects of the law" organized by the Directorate of Psychological Operations and Security Forces Headquarters (West) was an invaluable experience for them. The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge of the troops, and it has been divided into two sessions.

The 61 Infantry Division Headquarters, along with Its Brigades and Battalions, have demonstrated their dedication to serving the community by organizing a ‘Bath Dansala’ and Vesak Zone near to 61 Infantry Division Headquarters lacated at Boossa on 05 May 2023. The aim of this project was to provide a place of rest and refreshment for devotees who were going on pilgrimage to the Galle area during the Vesak festival.
