  • 8 SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY TROOPS SWIFTLY RESPOND TO DISTINGUISH FIRE AT KADUWELA

    On 28 February 2024, a sudden fire erupted at the Gragin Pipeline Yard - Kaduwela, owned by BSP Mendis and Company (Pvt) Ltd., prompting a rapid emergency response. Under the instructions of the Commander of 141 Infantry Brigade, 07 X 57 troops from the 8th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, joined forces with the Colombo and Gampaha Fire Brigades to tackle the blaze.

  • MILITARY TROOPS PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO RENOVATE HOSPITAL BUILDING

    Army personnel from the 3 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch (00x 20) and 12(V) ESR (00 x 04), operating under the 613 Infantry Brigade of the 61 Division, Security Force Headquarters-West, dedicated their efforts to the renovation of the district chest clinic buildings in Matara. Additionally, they undertook the task of cleaning the surrounding areas as per the request of the district chest clinic. This commendable initiative took place over three days from February 20th to 22nd, 2024.

    In accordance with the Commander of the Army’s initiative to prevent Army members from engaging in various criminal and misconduct activities, a series of lectures was organized by Security Forces Headquarters (West) and conducted by Directorate of Provost on 27-28 February 2024 for all Officers and Other Ranks working in the Security Forces Western Region, under the supervision of the Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters (West).

  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN MAINTAINING ESSENTIAL HEALTH SERVICES

    On 13 February 2024, a joint strike by health sector trade unions prompted the deployment of west troops to affected hospitals. The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, initiated this response, guided by the Commander, Security Forces (West) Maj Gen SWM Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc and supervised by the General Officer Commanding of 61 and 14 Infantry Divisions along with the respective Brigade Commanders.
