    On the morning hours of 30 May 2023, a sudden fire erupted in a private furniture shop in the Meegoda area. The situation quickly escalated, and there was an urgent need for assistance to control the fire before it caused more damage to the surrounding areas.

  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN CONDUCTING TO 'HARITHA NIYAMUWO' WORKSHOP IN WAYAMBA

    The Wayamba Training Institute in collaboration with 1 Sri Lanka National Guard troops recently organized a workshop themed “Haritha Niyamuwo” (green pioneers), which was held at the Wayamba Training Institute premises in Wariyapola on 27 May 2023 with the participation of 70 students from Konwewa Maha Vidyalaya and R.G.Senanayaka Maha Vidyalaya (National School) in the Kurunegala District.

  • WEST TROOPS PROVIDE SUPPORT TO CONDUCT A LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME AT SIRI SUJATHA COLLEGE IN CHILAW

    Troops of the 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment under the 143 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) recently assisted in a two-day training workshop on 'Leadership' for the 23 prefects of Siri Sujatha College in Chilaw. The workshop was conducted on 20 and 21 May 2023, at the school premises, as per the request made by the school authorities.

  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN DENGUE PREVENTION CAMPAIGNS

    During 12 – 26 May 2023, the troops of 142 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West), in collaboration with police personnel and respective MOH offices, conducted a series of dengue prevention campaigns covering several areas of the Western province. The aim of these campaigns was to reduce the incidence of dengue fever, which had become a major public health issue in the country.

  • 61 INFANTRY DIVISION COORDINATES ANOTHER COMMENDABLE PROJECT

    In line with the 14th National War Heroes Day as well as the up-coming 15 Divisional Day celebration of 61 Infantry Division, the old boys of Colombo Royal College,in collaboration with the old students of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura , organized a programme to distribute free school exercise books under the "Ranaviru Abhinandana Puja 2023' for the children of the other ranks and civil servants who are serving in 61 Infantry Division Headquarters in Boossa.

  • SECURITY FORCES (WEST) TROOPS HELP IN CLEANING POLLUTED DRINKING WELLS IN BARAGAMA

    As a result of prevailing adverse weather condition in the Security Forces (West) Area of Responsibility, the public has been in distress due to the contamination of the well water in the Baragama (East) and Baragama (West) Grama Niladari Divisions under the Mulatiyana Divisional Secretariat of Matara district. The polluted water has been caused a great deal of concern among the residents, as it poses serious health risks. In response to this situation, the Commander Security Forces (West) has taken immediate action addressing the problem requested by the residents of the area.
