  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN RENOVATION WORKS AT ‘SRI PUNYALOKA' TEMPLE AT WATAREKA

    Troops of the 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery under 142 Infantry Brigade of 14 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) have once again demonstrated their commitment to serving the community by volunteering their manpower for another noble project. In response to a request made by the chief Incumbent of the ‘Sri Punyaloka' temple at Watareka, Meegoda, the troops dedicated their time and effort during 21 to 30 June 2023 for various renovation tasks of the Sri Punyaloka temple.

    Road accidents have become a persistent issue within the Army, prompting the need for proactive measures to address this growing concern. In response to this alarming trend, the 141 Infantry Brigade under the 14 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) organized a one-day workshop on the topic of "Prevention of Traffic Accidents" on 28 June 2023, at Brigade Headquarters premises.

  • 144 INFANTRY BRIGADE TROOPS ASSIST IN A DENGUE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN

    A group of Army personnel belonging to 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry of 144 Infantry Brigade recently participated in a Dengue prevention campaign in collaboration with the officials of Gothatuwa MOH office and police personnel of Mulleriyawa police station. The project was conducted on 24 June 2023, covering 504 Kelanimulla Grama Nilsdari Division under the Gothatuwa MOH office.

Pussella RWP RSP, took office as the 12th Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Seva Vanitha Unit on 21 June 2023, at Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Headquarters, after Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP assumed duties as the 16th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps.

  • 143 INFANTRY BRIGADE TROOPS CONSTRUCT A NEW WARRANT OFFICERS AND SERGEANTS’ MESS

    The 143 Infantry Brigade Warrant Officers and Sergeants’ Mess was officially inaugurated on 18 June 2023, marking the culmination of a 16-month project. The ceremony was attended by Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP, Commander Security Forces (West), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Commander 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T.M.F Kitchilan RWP RSP.

  • WEST TROOPS EXTINGUISH BUSH-FIRE AT GODAKUMBURA FOREST AREA

    One officer and ten Other Ranks of 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch under command to the 611 Infantry Brigade of the 61 Infantry Division under the Security Forces (West) on 17 June 2023, assisted in extinguishing a fast-spreading bush-fire in the general forest area of Godakumbura under control after the fire broke out due to an unknown reason.

    The Sri Lanka Army's engineering and technical prowess as well as its all-time readiness to perform nation-building tasks at any given time came to light this morning (16 June) once again when 12 Engineer Services Regiment troops on the directions of the Commander of the Army undertook to erect a much-needed two storey building for students at Ilukpitiya Kanishta (Junior) Vidyalaya, situated in Ilukpitiya, Kotapola in Matara District.
