In a significant move to promote environmental sustainability, the 57 Infantry Division recently launched a tree planting initiative, coincide with the celebration of 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
This initiative underscored the division's commitment to preserving the natural environment while fostering community engagement. Under the guidance of Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, the division partnered with Rev. Fr. Thusitha Priyanga and his dedicated team from the “Janasetha Institution” in the program. Together, they facilitated the donation of over 300 saplings, showcasing a strong collaborative spirit aimed at enhancing the green landscape of the region.
On 08 October 2024, the 57 Infantry Division held a vibrant tree planting event at their camp premises in Pangolla. Troops of the Division and community members came together for this worthy occasion, where each participant was given the opportunity to plant a sapling. The event served as a hands-on environmental effort and also strengthened the healthy interaction with the community, local residents in the area. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to the environmental stewardship and responsible citizenship, emphasizing that everyone has a role to play in protecting our planet.
