144 Infantry Brigade celebrated its 11th Anniversary with a three-days grand event held at the Brigade headquarters and various locations on January 25th, 30th, and February 1st in 2024 respectively.
On the first day of the event, a cricket tournament was organized at Vidyawardena school playground with the participation of 6 teams. The victory of the 18 Battalion of Sri Lanka National Guard was marked by defeating 5 teams out of the six teams that participated in the competition. The tournament provided a great opportunity for the troops to showcase their sportsmanship and a platform for them to develop team spirit.
On January 30, featured a blood donation program at Sri Shanti Yogashram, drawing participation from a hundred army personnel, emphasizing the Brigade's commitment to community service.
On the third day of the event on 01 February, Brigade Commander of the 144 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier M. K. D. P. Mapalagama psc was awarded with a guard turnout and thereby, the Brigade Commander addressed all the troops appreciating their unwavering dedication and commitment towards the duty. Afterwards, an all ranks tea party followed, concluding with a Bodhi Pooja at Kelaniya Temple in the evening.
The three-day event marked a milestone in the history of 144 Infantry Brigade Headquarters. It was an opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look to the future with renewed vigor and determination.
