The New Year celebration of Security Forces Head Quarters (East) was held under the patronage of Commander Security Forces (East) Maj Gen SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG on 1st January 2014. All the Officers and ORs were addressed by Commander SFHQ(E) after hoisting the National flag and the SFHQ(E) flag Thereafter tea with refreshments was served for all Senior officers including SF Commander , Other officers and ORs at the ORs Mess.

12th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery located in Batticaloa under 231 Brigade of 23 Division in Security Forces (East) area, organized a "Shramadhana Campaign" to clean in and around of Kommathurai Primary School in Eraurpaththu on 05 January 2014.

8th Sri Lanka National Guard stationed in Thoppigala under 232 Brigade of 23 Division in the Security Forces (East) area conducted a "Kovil Pooja" at Paththini Kovil in Periyawadduwan on 02 January 2014. with the participation of 15 x civilians in the area.

27th Sri Lanka National Guard located in Ichalanpathu under 222 Brigade of 22 Division in Security Forces (East) organized a "Shramadhana Campaign" to clean in and around of Sri Lankarama Temple premises in Mahindapura in Seruwila area with the assistance of villagers on 03 January 2014.

27th Sri Lanka National Guard located in Ichalanpathu under 222 Brigade of 22 Division in Security Forces (East) area provided lunch and distributed dry ration packs for pregnant women in Somawathiya Nawa Gammanaya area on 06 January 2014.

2nd Gajaba Regiment located in Trincomalee under 221 Bde of 22 Division in Security Forces (East) organized a distribution of 08 x wheel chairs worth of 120000.00 and donation of Rs . 277000 in cash amongst disable relatives of 21 x Army personnel with the sponsorship of Sri Lankan Business Society of United Kingdom. Several military and civil dignitaries participated for the occasion along with Mr Lasan Yatagamage and members of Sri Lankan Business Society of United Kingdom held at the Headquarters of 2nd Gajaba Regiment in Trincomalee on 30th December 2013.

8th Sri Lanka National Guard stationed in Thoppigala under 232 Brigade of 23 Division in the Security Forces (East) area organized a distribution of school amenities among 133 x students of Sri Murugan School in Akrana and Barathi School in Koralaipaththu with the sponsorship of "Peoples Church" institute on 06th January 2014.

18th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment located in Kalawanchikudi under 231 Bde of 23 Division in Security Forces (East) organized a "Dengue Prevention Campaign" to clean in and around of Wellaveli School in Wellaveli on 06 January 2014, with the participation of civilians in the area.

3rd Sri Lanka National Guard stationed in Panichchankeni under 233 Brigade of 23 Division in the Security Forces (East) area, provided assistance to organize an Eye Clinic and to distribute 160 x pairs of spectacles worth of Rs 1500 amongst elders and 280 x garments amongst girls below 10 years of Panichchankeni and Sallathivu areas with the sponsorship of Mrs Saumya Karunarathna and her family members. Several Military and Civil dignitaries participated for the occasion held at Panichchankeni Perumagar School on 04 January 2014.

Secretary, Ministry of Defense and Urban Development Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa visit Batticaloa on 23rd January 2014. Initially Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa attend for a Luncheon Meeting with Religious and civil dignitaries of the Eastern Province at "Hotel East Lagoon" Batticaloa. The Governor and the Chief Minister of the Eastern Province along with Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Eastern Provincial Council, Religious, Civil and Military Dignitaries were present for the Meeting.
