12th Sri Lanka Artillery located in Siththandi under 231 Brigade of 23 Division in Security Forces (East) area, Organized a Volleyball training work shop for students of "Annur School" in Valachcheni and "Ottamawadi School" to enhance the sportsmanship of Students in Batticaloa area, on 05rd Oct 2013. 40 X Players from subjected two Schools participated for the Work Shop.

8th Sri Lanka National Guard located in Thoppigala under 232 Brigade of 23 Division in Security Forces (East), Provided their Water Bowser to distribute water for Villagers of Madupulthottam in Thoppigala area, who were suffering with out water due to the prevailing Drought on 05 Oct 2013

Initially the flag of Security Forces (East) was hoisted by Brigadier DS WEERASEKERA USP, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ (E) Followed by the Army song was sung by all Troops. The message published By the Commander of the Army for the 64th Army Day was read thereafter. All Ranks Tea Party held at the Other Ranks$ Mess culminated the 64th Army Day Celebration conducted at Security Forces Headquarters (East)

233 Brigade located in Vakarai under 23 Division in Security Forces (East) area, Organized a Distribution of Exercise Books amongst 226 x students of "Kadawathamaduwa Primary School" with the sponsorship Mrs Dammika Gunarathna of Badulla and her friends living in Japan and Sri Lanka on 08th Oct 2013.

Sri Lanka Army donated a Fully Furnished House with the assistance of Sri Jayawardhanapura University to the family of Rizana Nafeek, a 16 years old girl of Safi Nagar in Mutur who was assassinated in Saudi, While perfuming an foreign employment at a function held at Safi Nagar in Mutur on 13th October 2013, Lieutenant General Daya Rathnyka, the Commander of the Army, Major General Lal Perera ,the Commander, Security Forces (East), Dr NLM Karunarathna. Vice Chancellor of The Sri Jayawardenapura University along with Several Religious, Military and Civil Dignitaries graced the function.
