24 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS ENSURE THE MAIN WATER SUPPLY IN SAINDAMARADU, NINDAVUR AND AKKAREIPATTU AREA

Gal Oya water reservoir was over spilled with the heavy rain on 12 January 2024. The main underground water supply line to the Saindamaradu, Nindavur, and Akkareipattu, has emerged due to soil erosion in an area of 50 meters away from Midindupura area which belongs to the Ampara Water Supply and Drainage Board.

24 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS PREVENT OVER SPILL OF GAL OYA WATER RESERVOIR IN GALMADUWA

Gal Oya water reservoir was over spilled with the heavy rain on 12 January 2024 and due to that the gravel road runs from Galoya to Paragahakale was damaged in Galmaduwa area. With the quick guidance of Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division and under the instructions of Brigadier LSDN Pathirathna RSP USP, Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade, 00x18 troops from 24 Infantry Division and 02x15 troops from 11 Sri Lanka National Guard were dispatch to the place where the damage occurred to construct a sandbag bund along the Galoya bund to prevent the further damage.

RESTORING FLOOD-DAMAGED ROADS: MILITARY EXPERTISE FOR CIVILIAN RESILIENCE

Flooding occurred in Kiran, Pulipanchikal area due to the rapid rise in the water level of Maduru Oya and Valachchenai Aaru due to the heavy rains prevailing in the Batticaloa district. The road running from Kiran through Pulipanchikal to Wadumune, Kudimbimale, Toppigala and Periyavadwan was submerged in water at several places for a period of almost two weeks with a level of 5-7 feet. As a result, the people of many villages belonging to the Koralepattu South Divisional Secretariat were in dire straits.

PROVIDING SNACK FOR STUDENTS AT CHRISTMAS CAROLS CONCERT IN KARADIYANARU MAHA VIDYALAYA

In conjunction with the Christmas celebration Karadiyanaru Maha Vidyalaya has organized a Christmas Charols concert from 1100 Hrs to 1430 Hrs on 21 December 2023 at the School main hall with the participation of 35 x teachers and 400 x students. Rev Father Merushan Henrick of St Joshep Church Thannamunai was the chief guest for the event.
