In celebration of World Children’s Day and the 76th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, troops of the 7th Field Engineer Regiment, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, carried out a community assistance programme at the Bosath Dharmapāla Boys’ Children’s Home, under the guidance of Security Forces Headquarters – (East).
The event commenced with a Sramadāna campaign, during which the troops cleaned the premises and surrounding areas. A wholesome lunch was then provided to the children and staff, sponsored by contributions from officers and soldiers of the Regiment.
A unit officer conducted an interactive and motivational session, aimed at encouraging the children to focus on their education, build confidence, and strive for a better future.
In the afternoon, the children participated in sports and recreational activities, followed by refreshments and a prize-giving ceremony. Stationery packs were presented to 28 children to support their academic needs, and care packages were handed over to two staff members in recognition of their service.
The event served to strengthen civil-military relations and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting and uplifting local communities.
