TROOPS OF THE 15TH SRI LANKA INFANTRY REGIMENT HAVE ESTABLISHED A DISPLACEMENT CAMP FOR PEOPLE AFFECTED BY ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE VILLAGES OF KANGUWELI AND KILIVEDI.

Under the command of the SFHQ (East), the 223 Infantry Brigade Headquarters of the 22 Infantry Division AOR has taken steps to safely accommodate 99 people from 50 families who were displaced by the adverse weather conditions in the villages of Kanguweli and Kilivedi. They have been temporarily relocated to Al Amra Muslim College on 30.11 2025 .

24 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS CONTRIBUTE TO RELIEF OPERATIONS

Due to the adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall affecting the area under the responsibility of the Security Forces – East 24 Infantry Division , A team of 01X15 troops from the 11 (V) Sinha Regiment, under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General K.W. Jayaweera USP psc, was deployed on 28.11.2025 to remove a tree that had fallen on the roof of a house in the kuruwappankerny area.

TROOPS OF THE 20TH GAJABA REGIMENT ARE PROVIDING COOKED MEALS TO THE PULMUDE AND KUCHCHAVELI IDP CAMPS, WHERE PEOPLE DISPLACED DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE BEING SHELTERED.

The distribution of cooked meals at these IDP camps, located in the Pulmude and Kuchchaveli areas under the 22 Infantry Division of SFHQ (E) AOR, is being carried out by a contingent of 02 x 30 troops from the 20th Gajaba Regiment, in collaboration with the respective Divisional Secretariat offices.

TROOPS OF 11 (V) SINHA REGIMENT CONTRIBUTE TO RELIEF OPERATIONS

Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General K.W. Jayaweera USP, psc, 1x12 troops from the 11 (V) Sinha Regiment actively assisted in removing a tree that had fallen on a building of Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya, Batticaloa. The tree was brought down by heavy rains affecting the area under the 24 Infantry Division, which is under the control of SFHQ (E).

TROOPS OF THE 14TH SINHA REGIMENT PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO THE ROAD DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY IN REPAIRING THE POTTUVIL - ULLA BRIDGE, WHICH WAS DAMAGED DUE TO FLOODING CAUSED BY ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

On the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General K.W. Jayaweera USP psc, a contingent of 01×06 troops from The 14th Sinha Regiment was deployed on 30.11.2025 to assist the Road Development Authority in repairing the Pottuvil -Ulla Bridge, which had been damaged by the heavy rains affecting the 24 Infantry Division area under the control of SFHQ (E).

TROOPS OF THE 12 (V) SRI LANKA NATIONAL GUARD, UNDER THE 23 INFANTRY DIVISION HEADQUARTERS, PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO CIVILIANS TRAVELLING ON THE PULIPANCHKAL–KIRAN ROAD DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Following the instructions of the Commander of the 23 Infantry Brigade, Major General G.P.P. Kulathilaka ndc, 03x12 troops of The 12 (V) Sri Lanka National Guard was deployed to assist residents affected by flooding along the Pulipanchkal–Kiran Road. This operation was carried out under the 23 Infantry Division Headquarters within the area of responsibility of SFHQ (E).

TROOPS OF THE 5 (V) ARTILLERY REGIMENT UNDER THE 222 INFANTRY BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS OF THE 22 INFANTRY DIVISION AOR RESCUED A GROUP OF CIVILIANS WHO WERE IN A VULNERABLE SITUATION DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS IN SURIYAPURA VILLAGE

A group of farmers who were in a vulnerable situation in Suriyapura village in Kantale, under the 222 Infantry Brigade Headquarters of the 22 Infantry Division SFHQ (E) AOR, were rescued on 27.11.2025 under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division, Major General H.D.L.S. Lalith Perera RWP RSP ndc. Troops of the 5 (V) Artillery Regiment actively took part in the rescue mission and made significant efforts to evacuate the farmers and direct them to safe locations.

A total of 184 civilians from 94 families who were stranded on both sides of the Mahaweli River in Rakuli Village, within the SFHQ (E) Area of Responsibility of the 22 Infantry Division,

3 (V) VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT RESCUES FLOOD-AFFECTED CIVILIANS IN RANHELAGAMA, ELLAKOTALIYA, SALPITIGAMA, AND VIJAYAPURA VILLAGES

Due to the heavy rains that caused severe flooding in the villages of Ranhelagama, Ellakotaliya, Salpitigama, and Vijayapura under the SFHQ (E) Command, 02 x 40 troops of the 3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment rescued a group of residents who were stranded by the flood waters.

TROOPS OF THE 15TH SRI LANKA INFANTRY BATTALION UNDER THE 22 INFANTRY DIVISION RESCUE FLOOD-AFFECTED CIVILIANS IN KALARAPPU VILLAGE

A group of civilians affected by the heavy rains and resulting floods in the 22 Infantry Division area under the SFHQ (E) AOR were rescued on 30.11.2025 by a team of 02 x 15 troops from the 15th Sri Lanka Infantry Regiment. The rescue operation was conducted under the guidance of Major General H.D.L.S. Lalith Perera RWP RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division. Despite challenging conditions, the troops of the 15th Sri Lanka Infantry Regiment successfully rescued the civilians and transported them to safe locations.
