TROOPS OF THE 7TH FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT CARRIED OUT RESCUE OPERATIONS AND PROVIDED RELIEF TO AFFECTED CIVILIANS

Due to the heavy rainfall, around 565 civilians affected by severe flooding at the Polonnaruwa Public Sports Complex and in the Nelumwewa and Gallella areas under the SFHQ (E) were rescued, including several pregnant women. Arrangements were subsequently made to safely relocate the rescued civilians to displacement camps at the Polonnaruwa Technical College.

TROOPS OF THE 12TH GEMUNU WATCH BATTALION CONTRIBUTED TO THE RELIEF WORK IN THE EVENT OF DISASTERS CAUSED BY ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS

The Security Forces – East, under the guidance of the Senior Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Major General G.P.P. Kulathilaka ndc, deployed 01 x 25 troops of the 12th Gemunu Watch Battalion, who actively contributed to the relief operations carried out in response to the disasters caused by the heavy rains that affected the area under the 23 Infantry Division.

THE SRI LANKA 6TH ARMORED REGIMENT PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO AFFECTED RESIDENTS BY REMOVING FALLEN TREES AND BRANCHES CAUSED BY STRONG WINDS

A contingent of 01 x 20 troops from the Sri Lanka 6th Armored Regiment assisted affected residents in removing fallen trees and branches caused by strong winds resulting from adverse weather conditions in the Namalwatte village, located within the 221 Infantry Brigade Headquarters area of the 22 Division, under the Security Forces Headquarters – East, on 27.11.2025.

TROOPS OF THE 7TH LIGHT ARTILLERY REGIMENT UNDER THE 23 INFANTRY DIVISION CONTRIBUTED TO THE RELIEF OPERATIONS FOR DISASTERS CAUSED BY ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS

The Security Forces – East, under the guidance of the Senior Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Major General G.P.P. Kulathilaka ndc, deployed 03 x 39 troops of the 7th Light Artillery Regiment, who actively contributed to the relief operations carried out in response to the disasters caused by the heavy rains that affected the area under the 23 Infantry Division.

TROOPS OF THE 20TH GAJABA REGIMENT UNDER THE 22ND INFANTRY DIVISION CONTRIBUTE TO RELIEF OPERATIONS FOR DISASTERS CAUSED BY ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS

A program to provide cooked meals to civilians displaced by the heavy rains affecting the Pulmudai area, which comes under the SFHQ (E) of the 22 Infantry Division, was carried out on 28.11.2025. The operation was conducted with the participation of a 01 x 20–member troop of the 20th Gajaba Regiment, under the Guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General H.D.L.S. Lalith Perera RWP RSP ndc.

24 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS CONTRIBUTE TO RELIEF OPERATIONS

Due to the adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall affecting the area under the responsibility of the Security Forces – East 24 Infantry Division , A team of 01X15 troops from the 11 (V) Sinha Regiment, under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General K.W. Jayaweera USP psc, was deployed on 28.11.2025 to remove a tree that had fallen on the roof of a house in the kuruwappankerny area.

A RESCUE OPERATION WAS CONDUCTED BY THE 7 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT TO SAVE A GROUP OF CIVILIANS AFFECTED BY FLOODING.

Due to heavy rainfall, a severe flood situation was reported in the General Area Polonnaruwa, particularly in the Polonnaruwa Public Ground area and Puddur villages, which fall under the SFHQ (E) region. As a result, several villagers were affected by the rising floodwaters. Accordingly, a team of 01 × 03 troops from the Boat Team was deployed on 28 November 2025 to rescue the affected Many civilians.
