Giving prominence to religious observances, Major General N R Lamahewage RWP RSP ndu assumed the Office as the Commander Security Forces (Central) at an auspicious spell scheduled on 24 February 2021. All the senior officers, officers and other ranks of Security Force Headquarters (Central) and its under command Divisions, Brigades and Battalions welcomed the new Commander. The customary guard turnout and the parade were accorded by the troops of 23 Gajaba Regiment. The new Commander planted a Na tree sapling at the camp premises marking his taking over duties and participated in the all rank tea following his inaugural address to the troops of the headquarters.

With the direction of the Army headquarters and the instructions of Major General H P N K Jayapathirana RSP, the Commander Security Forces (Central), a few events were organized at the Security Force Headquarters (Central) premises on 04 February 2021 to commemorate the 73rd National Independence Day.

Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Commander Security Forces (Central) made his first field visit to 8 Military Intelligence Corps (8MIC) on 13 January 2021 after assuming the office as the Commander Security Forces (Central). Further, the Colonel (Coord) of Security Forces (Central), Colonel W M P W N D B Weerakoon RSP USP along with few more staff officers of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) participated in this visit.

Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Commander Security Forces (Central) made his first field visit to Bodhi Kanda Viharaya, Viru Kekulu Pre School and also the farms maintained under the supervision of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps in Diyatalawa. The visiting Commander was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant N V Kumarage, the in charge of Viru Kekulu Pre School and Major W A P D Fonseka, the Officer Commanding of the Military Farms in Diyatalawa. During this visit the Commander SF (Cen) inspected the locations and directed necessary actions to be taken immediately. Senior Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Central) accompanied the commander during the visit.

Security Forces Headquarters (Central) organized a simple ceremony to mark the first working day of the New Year, on 01 January 2021. Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Commander Security Forces (Central), Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) participated in the ceremony held at the headquarters premises. The national flag and the Security Forces (Central) flag were hoisted and it was followed by singing of National Anthem and the Army song. Thereafter, two minutes silence was observed in commemoration of fallen War Heroes. The State Service Commitment Pledge as well as the message of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc were read by Major A M S Alahakoon of Sri Lanka National Guards.

Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Commander Security Forces (Central) made his first field visit to 7 Sri Lanka Signal Corps(7 SLSC), 17(V) Engineer Services Regiment(17 ESR) and 7 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) on 03 December 2020 after assuming the office as the Commander Security Forces (Central). The visiting Commander was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel M R Hameem USP, Lieutenant Colonel R S Punchihewa USP and Major S P Kasthuriarachchi, the respective Commanding Officers of the units. Moreover, the role and tasks of each battalion were also briefed during the visit. Brigadier T M G G S Thennakoon RWP, the Brigadier Admin and Quartering of SF HQ Cen also participated in this visit.

Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Commander Security Forces (Central) made his first field visit to 8 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) and 2(V) Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) on 26 November 2020 after assuming the office as the Commander Security Forces (Central). On the same day the supply squadron of 8 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps as well as the workshop of 2(V) Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers were also visited by the Commander.

Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, the Commander, Security Forces (Central) made his first official visit to the 121 Brigade, 23 Gajaba Regiment, 20 Sri Lanka Singhe Regiment and 18th Battalion the Gemunu Watch which are under command to Security Force Headquarters (Central) on 04 November 2020 after assumption of duties as the Commander, Security Forces (Central).

Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, the Commander Security Forces (Central) made the first official visit to 12 division, 122 brigade as well as 3 Sri Lanka National Guards which are under command to Security Forces (Central) on 02 November 2020. Major General Hemantha Bandara, the General Officer Commanding of 12 Division along with Senior officers, Officers and Other Ranks welcomed the visiting Commander and extended their warm wishes. Further, the Commander inspected the camps and signed the visitors’ book in order to mark the first official visit as the Commander SF (Central).
