The Diṭvā cyclone that occurred on 26 November 2025, disaster relief operations were initiated under emergency conditions on the directives of the Commander, Security Forces (Central), Major General K A W N H Bandaranayake USP. Accordingly, all Army personnel of Divisions, Brigades and Units under the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) were mobilized without delay to carry out relief operations.

The Long Sniper Course No. 23, conducted by the Marksmanship and Sniper Training School, commenced with the participation of 41 local and foreign military officers and other ranks, and successfully concluded on 10 December 2025. The commander security forces central Major General Nalin Bandaranayeke, on 13 September 2025, made a curtesy call and interactive session at Security Forces Headquarters Central for the troops, who engaged in rescue mission of horrific Ella Wellawaya bus accident, to appreciate their bravery acts during the tragic accident. The Commander emphasized and appreciated the social responsibility in assisting general public during such disastrous situations and praised them for their commitment during the mission. The Brigadier General Staff, Commander 112 infantry brigade, senior officers, officers and soldiers who contributed for the rescue mission participated for the event.

An encouraging donation programme of school items was held on 22 August 2025 at Bandarawela Sri Maliyadeya Vidyalaya to support children from low-income families. This community support initiative was organized under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces (Central), Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP and under the patronage of ‘Protector Clothing Manufacturer (Pvt) Ltd’. Essential school items including books, bags, shoes, and other necessities were donated for 108 students of the school during the event. The programme was successfully concluded with a group photograph and proving a delicious lunch for the students

In line with the noblest day of the Bhudhist Calander – the Poson Pohoya Day, Security Forces –Central, organized a ‘Samahan Dansala’ with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks on 11 June 2025. The event was organized under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Central) Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP. Brigadier Coord (Vol), senior officers, officers, other ranks of Security Forces Headquarters and large number of civilians attended the event.

A large-scale tree planting campaign was launched in Diyathalawa near the “Halangoda Lake” premises. The programme was organized under the guidance of Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the Commander Security Forces Central, in collaboration with ‘Hadabima’ Authority of Sri Lanka and by courtesy of Divisional Secretariat office at Haputale. The programme was aiming to promote environmental conservation, biodiversity, and encouraging the sustainable development through tree planting initiatives across the country. 300 number of fruits saplings were planted during the campaign. Senior officers, officers, Divisional Secretariat at Haputale, Executive Director Hadabima Authority and several officials attended the event.

In parallel with the National War Heroes’ Memorial Day, Central Province celebrated the National War Heroes’ day on 29 May 2025 at the War Heroes’ Memorial in Mailapitiya with the participation of the Governor of Central Province, members of the Security Forces and family members of the fallen war heroes.
