The Monthly Meeting of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch was held on 02 December 2023 under the patronage of Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc at "The Salute" Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane, Kurunegala. The meeting was presided by the President of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs.Thushara Yatiwawala Aluvihare and was attended by Seva Vanitha Branch Executive Committee and members.

Lieutenant Colonel H G S Gallage psc assumed office as the 8th General Staff Officer I (Operations/Training) of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 22 November 2023 during a brief ceremony held at the Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
Lieutenant Colonel Shelton Gallage was enlisted to Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 06 July 1999 and followed the basic military training as an Officer Cadet with Intake 50. After a successful training he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 30 June 2001 and posted to the 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Madam Thushara Yatiwawala Aluvihare, the new President of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch assumed office during a brief ceremony held at President’s office of Seva Vanitha Branch at Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala on 11 October 2023.
On arrival, Madam Thushara Yatiwawala Aluvihare was received by Madam Chrishi Gunathilake, Hon. Secretary, VIR Seva Vanitha Branch. Later on, amidst religious observances, Madam Aluvihare placed her signature in an official document signifying the acceptance of the office.

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment ceremonially welcomed its 22nd Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc on 11 October 2023 in a brief ceremony held at the Regimental Centre Boyagane, Kurunegala in the presence of Regimental Council Members, a few retired and on service batch mates, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers, several other officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors, all Other Ranks and civil servants.

Invigorating an age-old military tradition, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment hosted a farewell ceremony in honour of the retiring 21st Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala, in which his 36 years of distinguished service was hailed and awarded accolades on 08 October 2023.

In commemoration of Childrens’ Day, a special programme for children on par with forthcoming 74th Army Day was held on 01 October 2023 at ‘The Salute’ Multifunctional Hall of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under the distinguished patronage of the President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage.

Mrs Himali Pussella, the President of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch and its members made a visit to the wellness resorts of the Sri Lanka Army, under the patronage of the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP. As per this initiative, the visit to the Abhimansala I (Anuradhapura), was conducted on 23 September 2023.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP and Brigadier KLI Karunanayaka RWP RSP on 22 September 2023 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

Construction of a new Pagoda for the temple premises of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was initiated under the directions of the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP on 13 September 2023.

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment hosted a brief formality in celebration of the 80th birthday anniversary of the Father of the Regiment, Major General Jaliya Nammuni (Retired) RSP VSV USP on 6 September 2023 at his residence, with the partaking of the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Deepal Pussella, the Centre Commandant VIR and several other officers and family members of the guest.
