S/517602 Sgt Sageeth Kumara KKM of 7 Battalion, The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment has completed Platoon Commander Course Ser No – 286 from 06 Nov 2024 to 07 Jan 2025 in India and he has been awarded the distinguished comment out of 24 foreign SNCO’S by the Infantry School Belagavi - India, recognizing his outstanding contributions to course. He is a outstanding and motivated SGT. He has displayed high standards of tactical acumen during the course. His clear workable solutions to tactical problems highlighted his commitment and determination to perform the task given.

Under the patronage of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the NCOs’ Training Day for the first quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 10 January 2025.

As per the concept suggested by the Hon. President of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Damayanthi Bandaranayake and Adjutant General of the Army and Regimental Commander of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, a visit was made to the "Talitha Cum" St. Anne's Convent, Pitakotte, a home for cancer patients, in aggregation with the Christmas celebrations of 2024 to query about the well being and general needs of the cancer patients.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Deputy Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Brigadier IGJP Thilakarathne USP, Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 12 December 2024 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General KDML Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, Director Training, Army Headquarters on 30 November 2024 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

The Army Inter-Regiment Muay Thai Championship 2024 organized by Army Muay Thai Committee concluded successfully at the Army Boxing Indoor Stadium, Panagoda on 10 November 2024 showcasing the skills of over 167 players from twelve regiments.

The 36th Anniversary of the 2nd Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was proudly celebrated on 12 November 2024. On the eve of this occasion, under the guidance of the commanding officer, Major K A I N Kodikara, on 11 November 2024 a religious sermon was held in order to blessing and remembrance of the wounded and fallen war heroes of the battalion.

Colonel IGJP Thilakaratne USP officially assumed duties as the 19th Centre Commandant of Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment amidst religious rituals and military formalities at the Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Boyagane on 06 November 2024.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, blended with its traditions and military formalities bade farewell to outgoing Centre Commandant, Brigadier MADJD Gunathilaka RSP USP on 05 November 2024 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre at Boyagane, Kurunegala.
