S/534339 Infmn Bandara KMHL (1 VIR), participated in the Inter-Regiment Judo Championship organized by the Sri Lanka Army Judo Association, held on 04th, 05th, and 06th November 2025 at the Indoor Stadium, PNG. Representing the Under 60 Kg weight category, the soldier displayed an exceptional standard of skill, determination, and physical endurance, and after a keenly contested final bout, was able to secure the 2nd Place, thereby winning the Silver Medal.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Commander, Security Forces – Central and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Brigadier B D T D Jayarathne psc and Brigadier K G A T Kalakorale RSP on 03 Oct 2025 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

The Vijaybahu Infantry Regiment bade formal farewell to the retiring Brigadier W M L S Dayawansa upon completion of 34 years of valuable service to the organization in a fitting ceremony which took place on 03 October 2025.
Accordingly, outgoing Brigadier Suminda Dayawansa was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout and a ceremonial Parade in appreciation of his service to the regiment, where he addressed all the troops and extended his thanks to all members.

Under the patronage of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the Officers’ Training Day for the second quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 19 September 2025.

Invigorating an age-old military tradition, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment hosted a farewell ceremony in honour of the retiring Deputy Commandant of Sri Lanka Army volunteer Force Major General B M R J Bandara at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala, in which his 35 years of distinguished service was hailed and awarded accolades on 28 July 2025.
