VIR SEVA VANITHA BRANCH MONTHLY MEETING - 2024

The Monthly Meeting of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch was held on 23 February 2024 under the patronage of the Commander Security Force Central and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc at "The Salute" Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane, Kurunegala. The meeting was presided by the President of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Thushara Yatiwawala Aluvihare and was attended by Seva Vanitha Branch Executive Committee and members.

On arrival, the President of VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Madam Thushara Yatiwawala Aluvihare was received by the Vice President along with other members of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch at the entrance. Then, the event commenced with the lighting of traditional oil lamp by the President of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch together with several other members. After reciting Army Seva Vanitha anthem, all observed a two-minute silence in a sincere moment of gratitude honored in memory of fallen war heroes who made supreme sacrifices to defend the motherland

As scheduled, the committee proceedings of the Monthly Meeting commenced, headed by the President of Seva Vanitha Branch. As a notable part of the event, valuable gift packs including school bags, and stationary items were donated to needy 50 school children of selected families of VIR soldiers and civil workers as a helping hand under the concept of Hon. President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Madam Thushara Yatiwawala Aluvihare.

After the formal proceedings of the Monthly Meeting of VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, all members, headed by the President of Seva Vanitha Branch posed for a group photograph and participated in a fabulous refreshment arranged by the organizing committee. Later in the afternoon, an informative and timely suited lecture on the topic of “An approach to the Traditional Foods of Sri Lanka that Focuses on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD)" was conducted by Dr. Yudhisteera Wedisinghe who is a medical officer in charge of Vector-Borne Diseases Control for the Ministry of Health, Western Province, Sri Lanka. Finally, the day`s events culminated with a well-arranged lunch.
