PRESIDENTIAL TASK FORCE VISITS RHQ VIR

Presidential Task Force to Prevent Covid-19 among Tri Forces, visited the Regimental Headquarters Vijayabahau Infantry Regiment, Boyagane Kurunegala on 09 July 2020. This visit was led by Marshal of the Sri Lanka Air Force Hon Roshan Goonetileke RWP & bar, VSV, USP, PhD(Hon), FIM(SL), ndc, psc, Governor Western Province and Chairman of Presidential Task Force to Prevent Covid-19 among Tri Forces.

COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF VIR CONDUCTED HIS INAUGURAL TROOP ADDRESS

Colonel of the Regiment of VIR Brigadier S P K A Pilapitiya RWP RSP USP conducted his inaugural troop address on 23 May 2020 at the “Salute” multifunctional hall at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane Kurunegala.
After the troops address, Colonel of the Regiment attended for the all ranks tea party arranged at the same location where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees. All these events were arranged by adhering to the safety precautions stipulated to prevent the COVID - 19 virus outbreak.

NEW VIR COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT ASSUMES DUTIES

Brigadier S P K A Pilapitiya RWP RSP USP assumed office as the 19th Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on 17.04.2020 during a brief ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
Amidst religious observances Brigadier Sisira Pilapitiya placed his signature in a formal document, symbolizing the assumption of duties.
After ceremonial formalities Col of the Regiment addressed all the Commanding Officers of VIR battalions through the internet as a video conference. Then he attended for the tree sapling to mark the occasion.

OUTGOING COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT WAS GIVEN A WARM FAREWELL

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment during a moving ceremony, blended with military formalities on 15.04.2020 bade farewell to outgoing Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Rohana Ketakumbura. Outgoing Colonel of the Regiment opened a newly constructed water pumping scheme amidst these farewell formalities which has a capacity of 90,000 ltr per day and would supply adequate water to all in the Regimental Headquarter, Boyagane.

OUTGOING BRIG PANANWALA WAS GIVEN A WARM FAREWELL

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment paid tribute by hosting a Mess Night in appreciation of the outgoing Brigadier P G M V J Pananwala RSP and also the outgoing active member of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Shobha Pananwala on 13.03.2020 at “The Salute” multifunctional hall. Adding memories to the occasion, a memento was also gifted to him as a token of goodwill.

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment paid tribute by hosting a Mess Night in appreciation of the outgoing Brigadier N M W S B Nayakaratne RSP and also the outgoing active member of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Gayani Nayakaratne at “The Salute” multifunctional hall. Adding memories to the occasion, a memento was also gifted to him as a token of goodwill. President of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Damayanthi Ketakumbura appreciated the services of the outgoing Mrs Gayani Nayakaratne and presented her with a symbolic memento.

THE OFFICERS’ TRAINING DAY FOR 2019 FOURTH QUARTER WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED

According to the direction given by the Commander of the Army and the supervision of the Colonel of the Regiment, The Officers’ Training Day for the fourth quarter of 2019 was successfully conducted with the participation of 171 officers belong to VIR at RHQ VIR on 24 December 2019.
According to the scheduled programme, all officers attended to the morning PT parade and then after attended to the Drill at Parade Ground.
