CEREMONY HELD TO MARK SRI LANKA ARMY'S 71st ANNIVERSARY AT RHQ VIR

71st Army Day lies on 10 October 2020 and as a practice formal ceremonies take place at each military establishment, with the guidelines of the Army Headquarters. Following the guidelines an iconic ceremony held with the patronage of Colonel of the Regiment VIR, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala by adhering all the preventive measures for COVID-19 pandemic.

LEADERSHIP AND POSITIVE ATTITUDES TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR THE GRADUATES - PHASE I TERMINATES AT A GRAND CEREMONY - REGIMENT TRAINING CENTRE, BOYAGANE, KURUNEGALA

The Leadership and Positive Attitude Training Programme - Phase I, held from 14 September to 03 October 2020 with the patronage of Colonel of the Regiment VIR, Brigadier Sisira Pilapitiya, has been terminated in a grand style at the Salute Multifunctional Hall, Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala.

TRAINING GRADUATES GOT TALENT AT VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT TRAINING CENTRE - BOYAGANE

The talent show organized by the graduate trainees of Leadership and Team Building Training Programme - Phase I, staged on 01 October 2020 with the patronage of Colonel of the Regiment VIR, Brigadier Sisira Pilapitiya at the Salute Multifunctional Hall, Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala.

This entertainment evening commenced with the gracious presence of Brigadier Sisira Herath, Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment as the Chief Guest.

VIR TRIATHLETES EMERGED AS 2ND RUNNERS-UP IN INTER REGIMENT TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP 2020

The Inter Regiment Triathlon Championship 2020 organized by Army Athletic Committee got underway by the side of the Chandhrika Tank bund area at Embilipitiya on 27 September 2020. Championship events consisted of 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km running.
In this unique platform to witness endurance, strength and stamina of the soldiers of the Army, VIR triathletes emerged as the 2nd Runners-up competing 14 Regiment teams. In novices’ event, S/528727 L/Cpl Adhikari AMPP of 1 VIR emerged as the Runner-up triathlete of the tournament.

INTER BATTALION TUG OF WAR TOURNAMENT HELD IN RHQ VIR

Inter Battalion Tug of War Tournament 2020 Finals organized by 10 (V) VIR ceremonially commenced with the blessings of Colonel of the Regiment VIR, Brigadier Sisira Pilapitiya, on 15 September 2020 at Regimental Centre sport complex with the gracious presence of Deputy Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Colonel Dhananjaya Aludeniya. 13 teams under 560 kg weight category and 11 teams under 640 kg weight category from 17 battalions competed for supremacy on 14 and 15 September 2020.

ORIENTATION TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR THE GRADUATES - PHASE I COMMENCED AT TRAINING CAMP RHQ VIR

The orientation training programme for the graduates – Phase I commenced on 14 September 2020 at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane with the participation of 376 graduates belongs to 15 Divisional Secretary areas in Kurunegala District. This programme was announced by the His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the Commander of the Army have led the initial commitment to progress the 1st phase with leadership and positive attitude enhancement of the newly recruited government servants.

VIJAYABAHU LADIES VISIT INMATES AT ‘ABHIMANSALA-3' AT PANGOLLA

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch ladies visited the inmates at “Abhimansala III - Pangolla, Kurunegala” one of the wellness resorts of the Sri Lanka Army on 05 September 2020.

They distributed specially designed toiletry pouches among all 35 inmates, including 4 Officers who are undergoing rehabilitation. During their stay at the wellness resort, they made inquiries into their difficulties, different aesthetic skills and capabilities.

VIR SUPPLIED 'COPPARA' TO ILLUMINATE 'SRI DALADA PERHERA' FOR 7th CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Paying obeisance to the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth) in Kandy and the conduct of the forthcoming annual Sri Dalada Perahera festival in a few days, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops donated more than five tons of dried coconut (Coppara) for the 7th consecutive year for illumination of the Perahera on 15.07.2020 while adhering to age-old traditions of ancient royalties.
