Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc, Chief of Staff was at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala on 28 November 2019 to conduct the administrative inspection to ensure all VIR units under the Regiment function well and conform to all stipulated procedures of the Sri Lanka Army.
On his arrival, he was warmly received by the Colonel of the Regiment Vijayabahu Infantry Regimet, Major General R K B S Ketakumbura RSP and accorded a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the Regimental Centre.
The new contingent of 243 Army personnel of the Combat Convoy Company (CCC) of the Army, set to serve in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) left the country on 13 November 2019.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army was at the airport to see them off, together with a few senior officers. With this contingent, the Sri Lankan CCC, comprised of 20 Officers and 223 Other Ranks, representing 13 Regiments of the Army completed the dispatch to this landlocked West African country.

The Vijayabahu Motocross - 2019, Organized by The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in collaboration with Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association, Sri Lanka Motorcycle Riders Association was held at Vijayabahu Motocross circuit at Boyagane on 25 August 2019. The event was once again, absolute success, and all spectators enjoyed thrilling experiences during the Vijayabahu Motocross - 2019 while creating avenues for riders to demonstrate their talents.
A get - together for the competitors who are participating for the MX - 17 was held on 12.09.2019 at the Salute multifunctional hall - Kurunegala, Boyagane.
In that, a briefing on MX - 17 was conducted as the 1st session and riders were briefed on general outline of MX - 17, track, conditions and racing events in MX - 17 and it concluded with a Q & A session.
Center Commandant and Deputy Centre Commandant of VIR, Mr. Thirupathi Ragunadan - Secretary of Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association (SLRRA) were present during the Media briefing.
The flagship motor racing event of the Army's Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), “Vijayabahu Motorcross - 2019” hand in hand with the Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association will kick off along VIR track in Boyagane, Kurunegala for the 17th year on 25 August 2019 with more than 125 famed competitors, including foreign riders, so said Major General Chandana Gunawardana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR during the first Media briefing regarding the event, held at Colombo Taj Samudra hotel on 09.08.2019.
Paying obeisance to the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth) in Kandy and the conduct of the forthcoming annual Sri Dalada Perahera festival in a few days, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops for the 5th consecutive year donated more than five tons of dried coconut (Coppara) for illumination of the Perahera on 29.07.2019 while adhering to age-old traditions of ancient royalties.
