The National Muay Thai Championship, more popularly known as Thai Boxing tournament got underway during 08 - 10 June 2019 at Nawalapitiya Jayathilaka Sports Ground. In that, S/529883 L/Cpl Senarathna SHL belongs to 4th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment became the National Champion of National Muay Thai Championship - 2019 amid roars of applause and cheers of the onlookers. This achievement was gained by the regiment for the first time in its prestigious and proud history. .

Colonel D K Aludeniya RWP assumed office as the 6th Deputy Centre Commandant of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on 12 June 2019 during a brief ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.

A felicitation ceremony for Major General R K B S Ketakumbura RSP was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Major General. The traditional event unfolded on 03 May 2019 at Regimental Centre, Boyagane with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Upon his arrival at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, a Guard Turnout greeted him and after the VIR Regimental Centre Commandant warmly received him.

Major General DMDCD Gunawardena RWP USP ndc psc assumed office as the 17th Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on 24.04.2019 during a colourful ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.

2019 New Year Festival of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was held on 06.04.2019 at the VIR premises, Boyagane on the directions of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana.
Colonel of the Regiment VIR Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana and Mrs Anuja Kariyakarawana, Chairperson of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit and along with other guests were warmly welcomed in a Sinhala and Hindu customary way.

According to the direction given by the Commander of the Army and the supervision of the Col of the Regt, The Officers’ Training Day for the first quarter of 2019 was successfully conducted with the participation of 167 officers belong to VIR in collaboration with 66 SLAWC lady officers at RHQ VIR on 29 March 2019.
According to the scheduled programme, all officers attended to the morning PT parade and then after attended to the Drill at Parade Ground.

The series of events commenced since 14.03.2019 to celebrate the 29th anniversary of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were concluded with glamorous events.
According to a concept of Colonel of the Regiment, “Archers’ Night” Musical Show was held at the VIR playground on 23.03.2019 with the participation of more than 3000 troops. “Arrow Star”, one of the most popular musical band in the country and several popular singers participated for this event.

The 20th Army Novices Athletic Championship drew to a close on 20.03.2019 with new hopes and encouraging records at Sugathadasa Stadium where Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment gained 3rd palce by collecting 85 points amid roars of applause and cheers of the onlookers. This achievement was gained by the regiment for the first time in its prestigious and proud history.
