Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) commemorated its 29th Anniversary at Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane on 22 March 2019 under supervision of Major General A Kariyakarawana VSV USP ndc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
On arrival at the Headquarters premises, the Colonel of the Regiment gave a floral tribute to the War Heroes Memorial at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and later he received a guard turnout, and ceremonial parade.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on account of its 29th anniversary, offered a lunch treat and gave away gift parcels, stationaries and school uniform clothes to the 25 resident kids in Maliyadewa Boys Home on 15 March 2019.
With the patronage extended by staff members of the Regimental Centre spent the day with those lovely children and shared pleasantries with them amid Calypso music provided by the musicians of the regimental calypso team.

With Major General A Kariyakarawana VSV USP ndc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment gracing as the Chief Guest, the Regimental Headquarters of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment paid tribute to the memory of their fallen War Heroes at its Boyagane Headquarters on 03.03.2019, giving pride of place to next of kin and children of VIR War Heroes, either killed in action or gone missing.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit members went on the tour to Anuradhapura ‘Abimansala – i’ with a view to inquiring into the well-being of its inmates with Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen Ajith Kariyakaravana today (23).
The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) SevaVanitha members offered gift to inmates during the visit and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Ransara musical group added music rhythms and entertained the inmates.

The Inter Regiment Super Eight Volleyball meet final was successfully terminated today (21) and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was become runners up of the event.
This event was organized by the Army volleyball committee and 18 team was participated. Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment volleyball team tussles with the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps during the finals.
S/528640 L/Cpl Herath was nominated as a best service and S/ 528077 Pte Keerthirathne was Nominated as a best Receiving of the event.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was visited by Officer Cadets under training at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) Intakes-87 & 59 (v) on sunday(17) during the field visit as a part of their familiarization component in the curriculum.
The Vijayabahu Infantry RegimentCenter Commandant, Brigadier W S Ariyasinghe, together with Staff Officers at the Regimental Centre, VIR welcomed those visiting Cadet Officers and Officer Instructors to the RHQ premises.

Inter Regiment Boxing meet was held at the gymnasium of Panagoda on 15 February 2019. Commander of the Army grace the event as the chief guest and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Won the Inter Regiment Champion Ship Consecutive in 3 times.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment shines their name as the champions of 2019 Inter Regiment Boxing meet and they won 04 Gold 01 Silver and 01 Bronze medal.

The newly-constructed Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess at Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was declared open by the Major General A Kariyakarawana VSV USP ndc at the Boyagane Regimental Headquarter premises on Today (31).
This building consists of a dining hall, TV room and Bar area with all facilities. All Ranks of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment contributed to construct this building on the directions of Colonel of the Regiment of The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Seva Vanitha Unit of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Donated School Bags, Shoes & Uniforms among 162 school children of Vijayabahu war hero families and artificial limbs among 13 disable Vijayabahu war heroes on 19 January 2019 at “The Salute” Reception hall Boyagane.
During this event school items ware donated among grade 6/7/8 school children and one brail machine was donated to a blind school girl.
The programme was organized with the guidance of Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen AKariyakarawana VSV USP ndc.

A felicitation ceremony for Major General D M D C D Gunawardana RWP USP ndu psc was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Major General. The traditional event unfolded on 18 January 2019 at Regimental Centre, Boyagane with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Upon his arrival at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, a Guard Turnout greeted him and after the VIR Regimental Centre Commandant warmly received him.
