“SOORYA MANGALYAYA - 2019” WAS HELD IN VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT

2019 New Year Festival of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was held on 06.04.2019 at the VIR premises, Boyagane on the directions of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana.

Colonel of the Regiment VIR Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana and Mrs Anuja Kariyakarawana, Chairperson of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit and along with other guests were warmly welcomed in a Sinhala and Hindu customary way.

After two-minute silence in memory of all fallen war heroes the, programme was commenced. Then Members of the “Adivasi” community were performed the Kiri Koraha” ritual to bless the programme.

The New Year festival was consisted with 22 Segments including selecting an “Aurudu Kumara and Aurudu Kumariya”.

Colonel of the Regiment VIR, Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers, Other ranks and their family members as well as civilians of the area took part in the ceremony.
