2ND SESSION OF THE 8TH PARLIAMENT OPENED IN COLOURFUL GUARD OF HONOUR

Elegantly-dressed members of the Army, Navy and Air Force in conformity with practising Parliamentary traditions had the distinguished honour of presenting a presidential Guard of Honour to HE the President Maithripala Sirisena this afternoon (8) during the ceremonial opening of the 2nd session of the eighth Parliament at Battaramulla, Sri Jayewardenepura Parliament complex.

NEW DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF HONOURED AT VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTERS

Colonel of the Regiment, VIR Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana first official visit was held today (27.04.2018) after the assumed duties as a Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army.

Upon his arrival at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, a Guard Turnout greeted him and after the VIR Regimental Centre Commandant warmly received him.

Then, the colonel of the regiment, VIR laid the floral wreath at the foot of the fallen war heroes to the Ranaviru Monument.

Later on, he was ushered to the main area to receive military honours in the Guard of Honour.

Chiththa Vishuddi Foundation - The Kurunegala Branch and the Buddhist TV channel, third phase of the Dharmadasana series was held on the 22nd of April at 3.30 pm at the 'The Salute' Banquet Hall at Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
The Most Venerable Ududumbara Kashyapa Thera conducted the Dharmadasana and it was held from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
At 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm, the Ven. Ududumbara Sobhitha Thero and Ven. Ududumbara Kashyapa Thero held a Dharma Discussion.

MAJOR GENERAL AJITH KARIYAKARAWANA APPOINTED AS A DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF (DCOS)

Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) assumed office on Monday (16).
He signed an official document symbolizing the assumption of office during the simple ceremony, amid Buddhist religious observances.
Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, prior to this new appointment served as the Commander, Security Forces – Killinochchi.
Several senior officers attended the event.

2018 BAKMAHA ULELA HELD IN VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT

2018 New Year Festival of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was held on 07.04.2018 at the VIR premises, Boyagane on the directions of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General A Kariyakarawana VIR.
Colonel of the Regiment VIR Major General A Kariyakarawana, Mrs Anuja Kariyakarawana, Chairperson, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit and Along with Other Gust was warmly welcomedIn a Sinhala and Hindu customary way.

VIR Won The Inter-Regiment Novices Boxing Championship-2018

The Inter Regiment Novices Boxing Championship-2018, organized by the Army Boxing Committee came to a close at Panagoda Army Gymnasium on 23.03.2018.

The four-day (March 20-23) tournament, competed by 101 novice boxers from 14 regiments under 10 weight categories who vied for supremacy in the tournament that provided a fillip to the budding boxers in the Army had the finals on 23.03.2018.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Commemorated its 28th Anniversary

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) commemorated its 28th Anniversary at Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane on 22 March 2018 under supervision of Major Genarel A kariyakarawana.

On arrival at the Headquarters premises,The Colonel of the Regiment VIR gave a floral tribute to the Ranaviru Monument at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and later he received a Guard Turnout, andceremonial parade.

During the programme, the Colonel of the Regiment VIR planted a tree sapling at the Headquarters premises.

NWPBA AND ARCHERS OPEN BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 HELD

The NWPBA and Archers Open Badminton Championship 2018which was organized by NWPBA and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment took place at Gymnasium VIR Boyaganeon 07 march 2018. The tournament, held for five days (March7-11) at Gymnasium VIR Boyagane Badminton Courts under 25 events was competed by both men’s and women’s teams. Many sports man and women was attended for the events. Brigadier D.T Gamage, Chairman, Army Badminton Association and Centre Commandant of Vijayabahu infantry regiment as well as many peoples participate for witness the event.

FIELD VISIT OF OFFICER CADETS TO REGIMENTAL CENTRE VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was visited by Officer Cadets under training at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) (Intakes-85,86) at Friday (9) during the field visit as a part of their familiarization component in the curriculum.

The Vijayabahu Infantry RegimentCenter Commandant, Brigadier W S Ariyasinghe, together with Staff Officers at the Regimental Centre, VIR welcomed those visiting Cadet Officers and Officer Instructors to the RHQ premises.
