With the intention of promoting religious reconciliation and peace among all ethnic communities during Christmas season, a special Christmas Carols programme was organized by Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment at Archers Cinema Hall,Yesterday (18).
Commencing the Christmas Carol evening, team of the Sent Nikola Church at Pannipitiya – Pamunugama presented a Drama and dance for the audience.
Adding festive atmosphere to the occasion, the Christmas Carols sang and most celebrated melodies sang as praise and appreciation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The direction given by the Commander of the Army and the supervision of the Col of the Regt, The Officers training day for the fourth quarter of 2018 was successfully conducted with the participation of 200 officers at RHQ VIR on 21 December 2018.
According to the scheduled programme all officers attended to the morning PT parade and then after attended to the drill demonstration about Guard mounting and Guard dismounting at Parade Ground.

O/67976 Maj CD Palihawadana who displayed outstanding performances during the DSCSC 12 was become 1st in course giving honor to The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

UCC 02 Was held at OCDC Buttala and O/66523 Maj HMLB Wijekoon RWP RSP achieved the 2nd place and O/64766 Maj MUPMMSK Ekanayake achieved the 4th place by displaying outstanding performances during the course.

The newly-appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr Hemasiri Fernando Today(19) made a formal courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters (AHQ) and called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.
A ceremonial Guard Turnout upon his arrival at the Army Headquarters premises greeted him in accordance with military traditions after Lieutenant Colonel Pradeep Gamage, Commanding Officer at the AHQ Battalion received him before he received the salute.

President of ex-servicemen Maj Gen (Retd) RV Samarathunga RWP RSP and number of retd officers and NCOS attended for the event and they conduct this session along with “ The Day of the Dead ”.
The ex-servicemen gave the floral tribute to the Ranaviru Monuments and observed two minutes silence for fallen war heroes.

Chairperson, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs Anuja Kariyakarawana, together with a group of Seva Vanitha members recently visited the 'Mihindu Seth Medura' at Aththidiya to disabled military personnel.

Closing Ceremony of Army Para Games – 2018 taken place on 21st of September 2018 at Diyagama Sports Ground on a grand scale.
At the invitation of Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayaka Commander of the Army, Chief of Defense Staff Admiral Ravindra Wejegunawardana graced the occasion as the chief Guest and distributed trophies and other prizes for the winners.

In parallel to Army Para Games – 2018, Army Para Sitting Volleyball championship for year 2018 was held at Indoor Gymnasium, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Boyagane,Kurunegala with the participation of 05 Regiments on 11th & 12th August 2018.
Sitting Volleyball team represented by Regimental Headquarter Battalion – SLLI was able to grab the Championship by loosing opponent Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

01. Inter Regiment Carom Tournament organized by Sri Lanka Signal Corps was taken place at Auditorium at SLSC from 20th to 24th August 2018. Teams representing 13 Regiment participated the events.
02. While the finals between RHQ VIR Team and SLSR Team were conducted, Team represented by RHQ VIR was able to achieve the Inter Regiment Carom Championship for the year 2018 by defeating opponent SLSR Team.SLSC achieved the third place respectively
