VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT COMMEMORATED ITS 29TH ANNIVERSARY

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) commemorated its 29th Anniversary at Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane on 22 March 2019 under supervision of Major General A Kariyakarawana VSV USP ndc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

On arrival at the Headquarters premises, the Colonel of the Regiment gave a floral tribute to the War Heroes Memorial at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and later he received a guard turnout, and ceremonial parade.

During the programme, the Colonel of the Regiment VIR planted a tree sapling at the Headquarters premises. Then, the Colonel of the Regiment participated formal troop address at “The Salute” multifunctional hall and according to a concept of Colonel of the Regiment the Vijayabahu sportsmen who have shown their skills recently in sports were appreciated with cash prizes.

As a final segment that day, an all ranks dinner night was held at “The Salute” multifunctional hall.

In parallel to the 29th Anniversary, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops engaged with many meritorious events and conducted overnight Pirith Chanting on 2019.03.20 and offered alms for 29 members of the Maha Sangha.

The Colonel of the Regiment, Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in these series of events.
