FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL R K B S KETAKUMBURA RSP

A felicitation ceremony for Major General R K B S Ketakumbura RSP was held at the Regiment Centre on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Major General. The traditional event unfolded on 03 May 2019 at Regimental Centre, Boyagane with the participation of a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Upon his arrival at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, a Guard Turnout greeted him and after the VIR Regimental Centre Commandant warmly received him.

Then, Major General R K B S Ketakumbura RSP, laid the floral wreath at the foot of the fallen war heroes to the Ranaviru Monument.

Later on, he received a ceremonial parade. After a while, the he posed for a group photograph with the Regimental staff and Officers. Finally he accompanied for the tea party which was arranged by the RHQ VIR. A special memento was presented to Major General R K B S Ketakumbura RSP by Colonel of the Regimet remarking this event.

Major General R K B S Ketakumbura RSP was born on 17 April 1965 and completed his school education from Mayurapada Central College, Mawanella. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 17 January 1986 to the Officer Cadet Intake SC - 10. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 10 December 1986. He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Company Commander and Second in Command. He Commanded 4th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

General R K B S Ketakumbura RSP presently holds the appointment of Commandant of RHQ SLAWC.
