Colonel K A D C R Kannangara RSP assumed office as the 7th Deputy Centre Commandant of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on 11 December 2020 during a brief ceremony at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
A refresher course programme for the Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant’s have been commenced on 11 November 2020 at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane with the participation of 16 SNCO’s from under command Bns of the Regiment . With the directions of the Col of the Regt and the Cent Comdt of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment the refresher programme was conducted to enhance the subject knowledge of the SNCO’s, who are newly appointed as RQMS of VIR Bns .
The new Outdoor Volleyball Court constructed at Regimental Centre, Vijayabahu Ingantry Regiment at Boyagane, Kurunegala with Regimental Funds was declared open by the Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General S P K A Pilapitiya RWP RSP USP on a colourful note on 07.11.2020.

The ceremonial event unfolded on 07 November 2020 at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala with the participation of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
The Vijayabahu Motocross, organized by The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in collaboration with Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association, and Sri Lanka Motorcycle Riders Association was an annual fund raising project in order to uplift the welfare of differently abled war heroes, soldiers in active service and their families of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Mali-based Director Mission Support - United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Lieutenant General (Retd) Anton Antvhev during a brief visit to the Headquarters Sector East invited the Sri Lankan Contingent Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company Commander Lieutenant Colonel Srinath Gallage of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment to his office and appreciated tasks being performed by Sri Lankan Contingent with majority of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops and commended operational capacity of Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company Troops.
“Operational flexibility of a peacekeeping force depends on its organic capability to logistically sustain itself, and also the mandate itself demands the mission to protect the civilians in conflict scenario. Providing safety, security and freedom of movement to civilians as well as for various UN agencies and NGOs operating in the peacekeeping arena which could be effectively carried out only by Convoy escort operations,” he has reportedly told the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company Commander.
