FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL S U M N MANAGE WWV RWP RSP psc

A felicitation ceremony for General Officer Commanding 53 Division, Major General S U M N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc was held at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Major General by adhering all the guidelines to prevent COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremonial event unfolded on 07 November 2020 at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane, Kurunegala with the participation of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Upon his arrival at the VIR Regimental Centre, Brigadier Sisira Herath, the Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment warmly received the day's Chief Guest on and a subsequent Guard Turnout at the entrance greeted him in accordance with military formalities. Then giving pride of place to the memory of all fallen Vijayabahu War Heroes, Major General Nishantha Mange, laid the floral wreaths at the War Heroes Monument and PWV Monument paid his tribute in a solemn ceremony.

A few seconds later, the Parade Commander invited the day's protagonist to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour and receive the salute. After a while, the he posed for a group photograph with the Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Officers. As the final showdown of his felicitation ceremony, he was accompanied for the tea party arranged by Regimental Centre and a special memento was presented to Major General Major General S U M N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc remarking this event.

Major General S U M N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc joined the Sri Lanka Army on 21 July 1987 and attended basic military training at Sir John Kothalawala Defence University, Colombo and Sri Lanka military Academy, Diyatalawa. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant on 23rd June 1989 upon graduation from the Sir John Kothalawala Defence University (KDU) and posted to the 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. This Senior Officer obtained post graduate qualification from Naval Postgraduate School California, USA/Marin Corps University Virginia, USA and University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka.

Major General Nishantha Manage has participated in many major military and Humanitarian Operations conducted by the Sri Lanka Army against LTTE terrorists and awarded Weera Wickrama Vibushanaya, Rana Wickrama Padakkama and Ranasura Padakkama for the valor and conspicuous bravery of a military nature in the battlefield.
