Lieutenant Colonel B D T D Jayaratne psc assumed office as the 5th General Staff Officer I (Ops/Trg) of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on 24 August 2020 during a brief ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.
Lieutenant Colonel B D T D Jayaratne psc was born on 30 July 1974 and completed his school education from Royal College, Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 27 January 1995 to the Officer Cadet Intake 42. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 21 December 1996. He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Second in Command and commanded the 1st Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
