    Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps WO I MVDP Ranasinghe USP prior to her retirement received appreciation and commendation from the Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps, Brigadier C S Thibbotuge for her exemplary service to the Regiment for two decades and awarded a memento to the retiree as a symbol of appreciation and commendation.

    2/Lt SMGKK Samarakoon SLAWC and 2/Lt WASA Weerakoon SLAWC joined with Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps after completion of Military Training at Pakistan Military Academy on 18 August 2021. These two lady officers have been selected to train in overseas for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka Military Academy and also their names are written in the history of Pakistan Military Academy as the first foreign lady cadets.

    The Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Major DCN Bombuwala was participated to a special ceremony which was organized by Sujeewa Rajapaksha - The Chairman Of People’s Bank , Ranjith Kodithuwakku Chief Executive Officer/ General Manager and all staff held at People’s Bank Headquarters Colombo on 08 March 2021 conceding with International Women’s Day with the approval of MS Branch as the Chief Guest and conduct an inspirational speech and shared her experience during the ceremony . The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, PMJYG Fernando, General Manager of Ceylon Electricity Board Kumuduni Herath, Deputy General Manager Inland Revenue Department, Champa Weerasinghe, Vetran Artist Renuka Balasooriya and a host by Government lady officer and Professionals were participate to the ceremony.

  • A SHRAMADANA PROGRAMME WAS HELD TO PREVENT DENGUE MENACE

    Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps conducted Sharamadana Programme on 12th March 2021 at Yashodara College- Colombo and Carey Collage-Colombo with the objective of preventing dengue in line with the new school term. The Programme was conducted according to the concept of the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Major General Priyantha Perera. More than 20 Officers and 80 soldiers were participated for the programme.

  • RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF 7TH BATTALION OF SRI LANKA ARMY WOMEN’S CORPS

    The 7th Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps was re-established inside the Security Forces Headquarter, Jaffna on 23 November 2020 under the direction of the Security Forces Commander Jaffna Maj Gen WGHAS Bandara RWP RSP ndu. Attaching greater significance to the occasion a Pirith chanting ceremony and alms – giving were held in the camp premises. The Commanding Officer, Second In Command, Officers and troops participated for the opening ceremony and further the ceremony was carried out following social distancing and health guidelines composed by the health services.

  • HANDCRAFT EXHIBITION FROM 1SLAWC & RHQ SLAWC

    During this prevailing situation where COVID - 19 pandemic engulfing the entire world, is threatening to our lives, snatching many lives and disrupting our day to day working, 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Regimental Center are not wasting their precious time and their abilities during quarantine period without giving up, crafts and creations were made as per the idea of Commanding Officer of 1 SLAWC Major D C N Bombuwala’s , and exhibition and competition were held to encourage and advance the talents of those lady soldiers. The Center Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps has praised the contribution of women's soldiers towards the opening of the exhibition and their creativity and talent the soldiers as they were created and handicrafts all the exhibit creation by using artificial and natural materials found in the camp. Accordingly, Prizes were awarded to the places they won in the competition.
