The 7th Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps was re-established inside the Security Forces Headquarter, Jaffna on 23 November 2020 under the direction of the Security Forces Commander Jaffna Maj Gen WGHAS Bandara RWP RSP ndu. Attaching greater significance to the occasion a Pirith chanting ceremony and alms – giving were held in the camp premises. The Commanding Officer, Second In Command, Officers and troops participated for the opening ceremony and further the ceremony was carried out following social distancing and health guidelines composed by the health services.

During this prevailing situation where COVID - 19 pandemic engulfing the entire world, is threatening to our lives, snatching many lives and disrupting our day to day working, 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Regimental Center are not wasting their precious time and their abilities during quarantine period without giving up, crafts and creations were made as per the idea of Commanding Officer of 1 SLAWC Major D C N Bombuwala’s , and exhibition and competition were held to encourage and advance the talents of those lady soldiers. The Center Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps has praised the contribution of women's soldiers towards the opening of the exhibition and their creativity and talent the soldiers as they were created and handicrafts all the exhibit creation by using artificial and natural materials found in the camp. Accordingly, Prizes were awarded to the places they won in the competition.

The 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps held a gracious ceremony to celebrate its 41st anniversary which was falls on 1st September 2020. Series of celebration events were started with the billet inspection of other ranker’s accomadation area, religious observances which conducted at Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya invoking blessing on the corps and expecting the remembrance the war heroine who paid supreme sacrifice while protecting our mother Nation. The Commanding Officer D C N Bombuwala SLAWC was honoured with a splendid parade as per the military formalities. Moreover, Celebration has followed with the tree planting event steered by the Commanding Officer and all rank tea party. Thereafter, New Canteen has declared open by the Major General C M D P Chandrasekara ndu, the Colonel Commandant, of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps with the presence of Brigadier R M J B Rathnayake RSP, Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps in order to enhance the facilities of trainees who are undergoing the training at training school, Kaluaggala. Ultimately, all ranks dinner followed by a mock tail has been marking the termination of the corps day celebrations.

Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Non Commissioned Officers Training Day was held on 14 August 2020 at the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Training School-Kaluaggala. Captain Prasanna Samarakoon SLAGSC, Lieutenant Prasad Peduruarachchi SLAGSC and Lieutenant Thilakshi Piyathilaka SLAGSC were conducted the lecture on “A new meaning to life and a happy life”. The Programme was conducted according to the concept of the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Master General Ordinance (MGO) Major General Prasanna Chandrasekere. More than 90 Non Commissioned Officers were participated for the training day.

Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Senior Non Commissioned Officers Training Day was held on 31 July 2020 at the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Training School-Kaluaggala. The Chief Visionary Trainer Mr Amintha De Silva was conducted the lecture on “Financial Management”. The Programme was conducted according to the concept of the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Master General Ordinance (MGO) Major General Prasanna Chandrasekere. More than 80 Senior Non Commissioned Officers were participated for the training day lecture.

3(v) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps has begun a bricks making project. It is conducting in the unit under the full supervision of the Commanding Officer of 3(V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Lieutenant colonel Sapumal Amunugama.
The project is implemented under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Master General Ordnance (MGO) Major General Prasanna Chandrasekere and the Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Brigadier Janaka Rathnayaka.

A revision programme is conducting for the SLAWC officers who are going to appear for the Lieutenant to Captain and Captain to Major promotion examinations which is scheduled to be held in near future. All arrangements for the programme was facilitated by Brigadier Janaka Rathnayaka, The Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps on the guidelines given by Major General Prasanna Chandrasekere, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Master General Ordnance (MGO). The current affairs lectures were conducted by Brig Manjula Karunarathne, the Director of the Directorate of Phychological Operations, and Brig Chandana Wickramasinghe, The Director of the Directorate of Media and SL Army media spokesman. More than 25 lady officers are participated for the lectures.
