Team "A"of SLAWC won the championship of Army Inter Regiment Athletic Championship 2020/2021.

57th Army Athletics Championship 2020/2021 organized by the Army Athletic Committee was concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo on Friday 26th November 2021 in the presence of the General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army graced the closing and awarding ceremony as the chief guest at the invitation of Maj Gen Harendra Ranasinghe, Chairman, Army Athletic Committee and Commander 1 Corps.

Athletes of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps performed brilliantly and became the Champions (women) by defeating other regiments. Three teams were participated representing Sri Lanka Army Women's corps and Team A emerged as the champions with 311 points.

This year SLAWC Athletes were able to established six new meet records by, paving the way for emerging young athletes to take part in future national and international sporting events.

New Meet Records

1. 100m Hurdles (13.84) - S/R 100061 Cpl Sugandi WVL (2 SLAWC)
2. Long Jump(6.14m) - S/2014vfrd86401 Rec Silva SLS (5 SLAWC)
3. Hammer Throw(44.97) - S/R100268 L/Cpl Amarasinghe AWASM (3 SLAWC)
4. 4x100 (47.33 Sec) -1st place
5. Medley Relay(2:08.99Min) - 1st place
6. 4x1500M (19;53.56 Min) — 1st place

Further, Inter Regiment Challenge Trophy for field events with 99 points, Challenge Trophy for track events with 117 points, and Challenge Trophy for relays with 85 points were gained by Team A of SLAWC. The 4 SLAWC won the trophy for Tug of War Women's under 560 Kg. It is proud to declare that Challenge Trophy for most outstanding performance was gained by S/725333 WO II Rathnayake UKN of 7 SLAWC in 3000 meters steeplechase event.
