The Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (SLAWC-SVB) made another humanitarian intervention by extending the helping hand for the children of Urani Kanishta Vidyalayam in Kankasanthurei on 10th January 2023 by distributing necessary school items. Further, there was a distribution of dry ration packs and school items for the civilian staff members and their kids of 7th Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.

Under the guidance of Maj Gen UD Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc Commander Security Force Headquarters, Mulativ and the Colonel Commandant of SLAWC and Mrs. Shayamali Wijesekera Chairperson of Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps presented special Christmas gifts for the children at Don Bosco Sevana at Ja- Ela on 20 December 2022 in coordination with Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Branch. The financial contribution for the project was extended by the “Sweshini” welfare in the United Kingdom with the coordination of Mr. Ravi Rajapaksha.

A delegation from the British Royal Army comprising one lady officer and a male Officer visited RHQ SLAWC on 08th December 2022 in discuss gender issues with female members of the Armed Forces. Female Officers From SLSC, MIC, CES SLASC, SLAOC and SLAGSC participated for this event and briefed their roll and task. The event was organized by the UK Embassy and Sri Lanka Army Headquarters.

The Logistics Staff Course – No 8 (LSC) was held on 09th December 2022 during a simple ceremony at Colombo Defence Services College Auditorium. Lt Gen Vikum Liyanage the Commander of the Army graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Accordingly, Maj LKK Perera SLAWC qualified in Lsc from the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps as the first lady officer creating the history in SLAWC. Further, Maj Gen Darshana Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc Colonel Commandant along with the all ranks of the regimental Centre offer the best wishes to her for this remarkable achievement.

The event was organized and headed by the President of the Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Apsara Ranawaka, the Vice President Mrs Ashika Thibbotuge and the Commanding Officer of 1 SLAWC Major GRPK Galhena along with Officers and all ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Regiment.
