The Commanding Officer 1SLAWC, Maj TTKK Fernando psc SLAWC conducted an official visit to SLAWC Training School – Kaluaggala 02 March 2023 prior to the commencement of Corporal to Sergeant Promotion Course. The course is scheduled to be held from 07 March to 06 April 2023 and more than 50 NCOs will be following the course. The visiting of Commanding Officer was welcomed by the Capt MSH Perera, Chief Instructor of the Training School.

Mrs. Shyamali Wijesekera, The President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of SLAWC, paid a visit to the newly constructed "Olive" beauty salon in RC SLAWC on February 6, 2023. The goal of this project is to improve the appearance of Officers/ORs in the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps as well as civilians.

On February 6, 2023, three newly promoted officers from the Regimental Centre SLAWC received their new ranks from Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, Security Force Headquarters (MLT) and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps. SLAWC Officers were promoted in conjunction with the 75th National Independence Day Commemoration. Apart from this, other newly promoted officers serving under the RC SLAWC and respective establishments in the Sri Lanka Army received their new ranks from the Centre Commandant of SLAWC and other Senior Officers of their Training establishment.

The Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (SLAWC-SVB) made another humanitarian intervention by extending the helping hand for the children of Urani Kanishta Vidyalayam in Kankasanthurei on 10th January 2023 by distributing necessary school items. Further, there was a distribution of dry ration packs and school items for the civilian staff members and their kids of 7th Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.

Under the guidance of Maj Gen UD Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc Commander Security Force Headquarters, Mulativ and the Colonel Commandant of SLAWC and Mrs. Shayamali Wijesekera Chairperson of Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps presented special Christmas gifts for the children at Don Bosco Sevana at Ja- Ela on 20 December 2022 in coordination with Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Branch. The financial contribution for the project was extended by the “Sweshini” welfare in the United Kingdom with the coordination of Mr. Ravi Rajapaksha.

A delegation from the British Royal Army comprising one lady officer and a male Officer visited RHQ SLAWC on 08th December 2022 in discuss gender issues with female members of the Armed Forces. Female Officers From SLSC, MIC, CES SLASC, SLAOC and SLAGSC participated for this event and briefed their roll and task. The event was organized by the UK Embassy and Sri Lanka Army Headquarters.

The Logistics Staff Course – No 8 (LSC) was held on 09th December 2022 during a simple ceremony at Colombo Defence Services College Auditorium. Lt Gen Vikum Liyanage the Commander of the Army graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Accordingly, Maj LKK Perera SLAWC qualified in Lsc from the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps as the first lady officer creating the history in SLAWC. Further, Maj Gen Darshana Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc Colonel Commandant along with the all ranks of the regimental Centre offer the best wishes to her for this remarkable achievement.
