Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) hosted a dinner, to bid farewell to Major General R K B S Katekumbura RSP, the outgoing Centre Commandant of SLAWC 05 of July 2019 at the ‘Salute’ Reception Hall of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Major General M Mudannayake RSP USP, Colonel Commandant of SLAWC, graced the occasion with his presence and presented a memento to Major General R K B S Katekumbura RSP as a token of appreciation for his yeoman service rendered to SLAWC.

Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) hosted a dinner on 05 July 2019 at the ‘Salute’ reception hall of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Boyagane, to bid farewell to Major C Wijethilaka, Commanding Officer of 03rd (Volunteer) battalion of SLAWC, Major BHS Fernando, Commanding Officer of 5th (Volunteer) battalion of SLAWC and Major GP Galgamuwa, Commanding Officer of 6th (Volunteer) battalion of SLAWC, upon their retirement after completing 20 years of distinguished service in the Sri Lanka Army.

New Year celebrations of 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps was held at Kaluaggala camp on 07 April 2019, under the supervision of the Commanding Officer Major GS Rankotge.Presence of Brigadier RKBS Ketakumbura RSP, Centre Commandant-Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps and Mrs. Ketakumbura added colour to the event. The event comprised of games such as Kana Muttiya Bindeema, Fancy Dress Parade, Pol Gema, Awrudu Kumariya.

On an invitation from Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana, Commander of the Army has directed a senior Lady Officer to deliver a speech at the inauguration of ‘Yeheliya’ Networking Forum. Colonel B C K Ferdinandez Colonel (Legal) – RHQ SLAWC sharing her experience as an Army Officer, addressed the forum on ‘hidden and neglected issues to make a better work place for the women working in the hotel industry’ with the guidance of Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.
